3 Months St Louis Blues After playing 24:40 minutes on Saturday, Ian Cole saw only 14:44 minutes of action on Monday. Cole has played in half of the Blues 12 games as he has been a healthy scratch in the other half-dozen. He had a tough time Monday as a puck jumped over his stick leading to a goal by Jeff Carter. He has only an assist in six games so he really should not be in your lineup. | 3 Months St Louis Blues Ian Cole believed he had scored the game-winning goal in overtime against the Ducks on Saturday, but the marker was waved off due to goaltender interference. Patrik Berglund was shoved into Ducks goaltender Viktor Fasth on the play, but he didn't make enough of an effort to clear the area in the eyes of referee Greg Kimmerly for the goal to count. "You go from pretty high to shock almost," Cole said. "Like what just happened." The goal would have been the first of the season for the blue liner, who has had difficulty holding a regular spot in the lineup for the ultra-deep Blues. | 4 Months St Louis Blues Ian Cole will get back into St. Louis' lineup on Thursday night. He will replace Wade Redden, who is suffering from the flu, alongside Alex Pietrangelo. Cole hasn't played in the past three games for the Notes, but it isn't because the club was unhappy with his play. "We really like the way Colie is playing," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We wanted to get Wade up and running with the team, but we liked how Cole was playing. He's just part of the group of seven. Spending all the time up here is good for him, it really helped him last year and we expect the same thing." | 4 Months St Louis Blues Ian Cole was recalled, as expected, by St. Louis this afternoon. He was sent down to the minors temporarily, so that Wade Redden could join the team's active roster. Cole and the Blues had to wait for Jeff Woywitka to clear waivers first, which he did. Redden will take Cole's spot in the lineup on Thursday night though. | 4 Months St Louis Blues Ian Cole has been temporarily assigned to AHL Peoria. The Blues also put Jeff Woywitka on waivers and whether he is claimed or not, Cole will be back with the big team on Thursday. Cole has one assist in three games this season, while averaging 17:48 of ice time per contest. He was sent down to help facilitate Wade Redden's activation on the roster. | 5 Months St Louis Blues Ian Cole registered an assist in Peoria's 2-1 loss to Charlotte on Friday night. Cole is one of those defensemen who will be overlooked because he doesn't light up the score sheet, yet he does a lot of the little things well. Cole had six points in 26 NHL games last year, and he has 13 in 29 AHL contests now. | 7 Months St Louis Blues Blues defenseman Ian Cole is using his time in the AHL to hone his game in preparation for the big leagues. Cole is hoping to earn a place among the Blues top six blueliners if and when the NHL season gets started, but he's got a few things to work on in order to do so. "People want more than the game gives them," said Peoria coach Dave Allison. "When you play within what the team needs and you've got talent, you're a pretty good player. But you have to match your wants with what the team needs. I'm not saying 'Colesie' doesn't do that, but I think that's part of his growth. It's got to be shift after shift after shift." A little more time with the Rivermen could be all that's needs for Cole to progress to the next level. | |
