Daniel Sedin LW VAN 3 Months

Daniel Sedin spoke to the media on Monday and said he was fine after he was stretchered off the ice Sunday night.

He was checked out at the hospital and released late Sunday night after he was hit into the end boards by Calgary's Paul Byron. "I was scared because I felt something wasn't right," he said. "I hit my head into the glass and fell down and when I tried to lift my head I couldn't get it off the ice. It was scary, but I went to the hospital and everything looked good. So it feels okay today." He isn't expecting any lingering issues.

Daniel Sedin was released from hospital after he was taken off the ice on a stretcher due to a hit into the boards on Sunday.

Paul Byron hit Sedin from behind and there was some concern that he was injured severely as he was seen moving his fingers but nothing else at the time. The good news is that he was stable in hospital and then released. The Canucks season is over so Sedin will have all of the off-season to recover.

Vancouver forward Daniel Sedin was taken off the ice on a stretcher after an awkward hit into the side boards late in the second period in the Canucks' 5-1 rout of the visiting Calgary Flames Sunday night.

Sedin's head hit the glass after he was hit from behind by Flames forward Paul Byron, and he never got up on the ice. Sedin was moving his fingers but nothing else as medical trainer Mike Burnstein came off the bench and quickly called for a stretcher to take Sedin off the ice. Byron was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding. Sedin scored twice in the first period, his 15th and 16th goals of the season. Frank Corrado (first), Ryan Kesler (25th) and Yannick Weber (sixth) also scored for the Canucks, who ended their regular season with a nice win after a poor season in which they did not qualify for the playoffs.

Vancouver Canucks head coach John Tortorella indicated that Daniel Sedin will return from his lower-body injury on Sunday.

The Canucks face the Buffalo Sabres in a game they need to win, so getting their key winger back for the first time since March 2 is a big boost, even if the 33-year-old hadn't scored a point since Jan. 23. He has 40 points in 63 games played so far this season.

Daniel Sedin (hamstring) was on the ice with the Canucks for Friday's practice.

Sedin has missed nine straight games, but he might be back on Sunday. He'll wait to see how he does on Saturday before coming to a decision though. "If I didn't feel good enough to play I would never play, but I was excited about [Friday]," said Sedin. "I knew right away something happened, but it's been three weeks so hopefully [Saturday] is another good day." The Canucks still have an outside chance of making the playoffs with 10 games left on their schedule.

Daniel Sedin (hamstring) isn't close to returning.

"I can't even call Daniel day-to-day," Canucks coach John Tortorella said. "He's weeks. He's not on the trip with us." At this point it wouldn't be surprising if Sedin doesn't return at all this season. He has 13 goals and 40 points in 63 games this season.

Daniel Sedin (lower body) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Sedin is sidelined indefinitely after leaving the Heritage Classic in the second period. This would obviously be a big blow under any circumstances, but with the Canucks struggling mightily and in serious danger of missing the playoffs, to lose Sedin right now is disastrous.

Daniel Sedin (lower body) will be out for "a while."

This is a big blow to the already sinking Canucks. As it is they've lost nine of their last 10 games and are now on the outside looking in on the Wild Card race. Sedin has 13 goals and 40 points in 63 games this season.
