Butler scored a goal for the second consecutive night in Tuesday's loss to Nashville.

Despite not seeing any kind of increase in ice time over these two games -- he still skated only 13:30 on Tuesday, miserably low time for a blueliner -- Butler has provided an offensive spark for the Blues. However, with a career high of 21 points -- and just four this year -- he's not likely to keep it up.

Butler netted his first goal of the season in Monday's 3-0 victory over the Avalanche.

Butler has claimed a regular spot in the St. Louis lineup while Carl Gunnarsson (concussion) remains unavailable, but his stay-at-home tendencies won't yield much value most nights. He's produced only three points in his 15 games this season.

Butler will be recalled from AHL Chicago on Saturday,'s Aaron Vickers reports.

After Jordan Leopold was dealt to the Blue Jackets earlier in the day, Butler will join the Blues to serve as the team's seventh defenseman. The veteran is unlikely to see much frequent action in games and represents more of a fallback option in the event one of the Blues' other defensemen suffers an injury.

Butler was placed on waivers by the Blues on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Butler was one of a slew of players competing for the seventh spot on defense for the Blues, but he failed to do enough in training camp to warrant a stay with the parent club. Assuming Butler clears waivers, he's slated to open the campaign at AHL Chicago.

Butler had 16 points and a minus-23 rating in 82 games with the Calgary Flames last season. He also ranked second in the NHL with 211 blocked shots. The Blues defense for the start of the season already looks pretty much set, but there's a small chance that Butler will be able to beat out Ian Cole for the final roster spot.

He trailed only Andrew MacDonald who had 241 in a season split between the Islanders and Philadelphia. Butler also finished 10 ahead of teammate Kris Russell. Butler had only two goals and 16 points with a terrible minus-23 rating but if you need blocked shots next season, he will help your fantasy team.
