Burns picked up his fifth and sixth goals of the season in Saturday's win over Dallas.

Burns is now second among all NHL defensemen with 15 points in 15 games. The 29-year-old hasn't missed a beat since being moved back to the blueline, averaging 23:01 of ice time and firing 49 shots on goal. With the offense up front, there is no reason Burns can't keep producing at a consistent level. What a stud.

Burns potted his second goal of the season in Saturday afternoon's 2-1 home loss to the Sabres. It was an unassisted tally.

Burns finally got the Sharks on the board in the third period against the lowly Sabres, but it wasn't enough as Buffalo needed just 15 shots on goal to upset San Jose in the matinee. The defenseman now has a scorching hot nine points in nine games this season -- which is phenomenal -- but he's not likely to sustain this pace long term. Enjoy the ride while it lasts and don't be afraid to entertain trade offers if the opportunity arises -- you might be able to fetch yourself a solid return.

Burns recorded an assist and attempted six shots on goal in Tuesday's loss to the Bruins.

The move to defense has done nothing to deter Burns' fantasy production -- in fact, he may be more valuable than ever. He's already piled up a goal and seven assists in seven games, and is on pace to crush last season's totals in penalty minutes and blocked shots. He's certainly not expected to continue his point-per-game production, but Burns could quite possibly finish the season as a top-tier fantasy defenseman.

Burns scored his first goal of the year Thursday in a shootout loss to the Islanders. He added a power-play assist, two PIM and a plus-1 rating.

That's a four-game point streak for Burns to open the year, and he's filling the sheet in plenty of other categories too -- plus-minus, PIM, hits, blocked shots. Roll him out and enjoy.

Burns had an assist and a shot through 23:43 of ice time in Tuesday's win over Washington.

Despite the move back to defense, Burns has a point in all three games this season, for a total of four assists. The Caveman is an offensive threat at any position.

Burns picked up two assists in the second period of Wednesday's opening-night 4-0 shutout of the Kings.

Burns grabbed the primary assist on goals by Patrick Marleau and Tommy Wingels. Owners who drafted him as a defenseman (where he will play for the foreseeable future) were treated to a productive game in this one. It's a good thing that leagues don't count giveaways, though, as his five cough-ups were a game-high.

Burns had a goal, three shots, a hit, four blocked shots, and 26:39 of playing time in one of the Sharks' split-squad preseason games against the Canucks on Tuesday.

Burns did it all and showed why he'll be a highly sought after d-man in fantasy this season. He's scoring, playing defense, and likely to log a ton of minutes. Preseason games are a little meaningless and it's dangerous to take too much from them, but Burns certainly showed why he's one of the most exciting defensemen in fantasy this season.

San Jose's Brent Burns is expected to retake his role as a defenseman for the Sharks in the 2014-15 season.

On a conference call with the media Thursday, Sharks GM Doug Wilson laid out his plan to return the offensive-minded player to the blue line. Considering he held his own as a forward, registering 48 points in 69 contests this season, it's a little surprising to hear this news, although Burns will certainly retain a prominent role on the team's power-play going forward.
