Mike Brown has impressed his Oiler teammates since being acquired four games ago from Toronto.

Brown has a goal and two fights and generally has provided some jump when he is on the ice. "He got into two spirited fights. I would have liked to have seen us respond, too ... a little bit better," Edmonton captain Shawn Horcoff said. "We talked about that. But he's been a really good addition for us ... and the kid can really skate. He really brings what we're looking for which is an uptempo style, and he's great in the locker-room." The Oilers really needed a tough guy to protect all their outstanding young talent and Brown is worth picking up in pools that use the penalty minute category.

Edmonton sent a conditional 2014 fourth-round pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Brown. They were hoping he'd provide them with more toughness and so far he has nine hits in two games in addition to the fight. However, Edmonton still lost both games with Brown in the lineup.

Toronto has shipped Mike Brown to the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

According to reports, if the Oilers qualify for the playoffs this season the pick will turn into a third-round choice in 2014. Brown has racked up 70 penalty minutes, including six fighting majors, in 12 games this season. He'll add some toughness to the Oilers provided he passes his physical by Tuesday afternoon and the trade goes through.
