Marek Zidlicky D DET 2 Days

The Red Wings have acquired Zidlicky from the Devils in exchange for a third-round pick in 2016, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.

The Wings, seemingly in position to make a playoff run, were a bit inexperienced toward the bottom of their defense pairings, but the addition of the veteran Zidlicky solves that and gives them a right-handed shot from the point. Given the price, this is a good stretch run signing for Detroit. We'll see if Zidlicky starts to pick up power play time in his new digs.

Zidlicky picked up an assist in Tuesday's victory over the Senators.

It's a good start to the month for Zidlicky, who accrued no goals and two assists in 11 January contests. Even at age 38, Zidlicky still offers a tinge more of puck-moving ability than the typical NHL blueliner, but his appeal is probably limited to mid-sized or deeper leagues at this point. With 21 points in 51 games thus far, Zidlicky is projected to fall safely short of last season's totals of 12 goals and 30 assists.

Zidlicky chipped in an assist in Tuesday's win over the Sabres.

It's just the second point in the last 10 games for the aging blueliner. While last season's total of 12 goals is probably unattainable at this point, Zidlicky could still challenge for his second consecutive 40-point season if he's able to pick up the pace in the second half. There's probably still a place for him in mid-sized fantasy leagues.

Zidlicky picked up a goal and an assist in Monday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Islanders.

Zidlicky is up to four goals and 13 assists on the sason, with five of those points coming in the last seven games. At over 0.5 points per-game, he makes for a serviceable option on the blue line in most formats.

Zidlicky tallied two assists in Thursday's win over the Leafs.

Ziddles isn't finding much twine, but he has been picking up points in fits and starts, which is enough to give him solid fantasy value. He's totaled five assists in the last six games.

Zidlicky contributed a pair of assists in Saturday's loss to the Flames.

Although the points were Zidlicky's first in five games, the 37-year-old has impressed lately, recording a plus-7 rating over his last five games. He has delivered a solid three goals and 11 points in 21 games this season, putting him on pace for another 40-point campaign. Use him well.

Zidlicky scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's win over the Blue Jackets.

It's the second-straight Saturday that he hit the scoresheet with little to nothing in between. We'd like to see more than six points in 11 games, but may we're being overly critical -- that's a 45-point pace.

Zidlicky had one goal, a point, and one block in Saturday's victory over the Senators.

His plus-minus is not negative this time, but his offensive production this game gives him some upside for fantasy owners looking at him at this point.

Zidlicky had four shots at the goal, but was unable to capitalize on any of his attempts.

Zidlicky also had a costly turnover that turned into a goal for the Rangers. While one turnover does not take away from his fantasy value, it might be beneficial to monitor his turnovers to see if it becomes a habit moving forward.

Zidlicky added three shots and two giveaways in 23 minutes of play on Saturday.

This makes the third game in a row that Zidlicky has had a plus/minus of -1. Coupled with the two giveaways against the Sharks, it seems as though the lineup struggles on both ends when he is involved. However, it is still early enough in the season for fantasy owners to give Ziddles the benefit of the doubt.
