Daniel Briere RW COL 10 Days

Briere will miss his third straight game Thursday against the Kings. With the Avalanche owning a two-game winning streak since Briere became a healthy scratch, coach Patrick Roy will stick the same lineup. The 37-year-old Briere is clearly in the twilight of his career at this point, as he's only produced eight goals and 11 points in 47 games this season.

Briere found twine Friday, notching his seventh goal of the season in a 2-1 shootout win over the Oilers.

As predicted, the aging Briere's offense has continued to decline in 2014-15, as he's now up to just nine points in 31 contests. However, he skated with offensive weapons Matt Duchene and captain Gabriel Landeskog on the top line in this one, so as long as he's receiving this assignment, he's certainly worth a look in deeper formats, even if the struggles of Colorado's top forwards have been well documented.

Briere netted the Avalanche's only goal in their shootout victory over the Oilers on Friday.

A recent addition to the Avs' top line, Briere took a feed from Matt Duchene to give the team a 1-0 lead in the first period. Briere's placement on a scoring line would seemingly make him a decent pickup in the short-term, but coach Patrick Roy's tendency to tinker heavily with his arrangements may not give the forward much time to remain there.

Briere found the net on his only shot on goal in Monday's loss to the Canadiens.

Briere has now scored three goals in his last five games, earning him some increased ice time after he had been a healthy scratch for a decent stretch of time in November. With several Avs forwards since falling victim to injury, Briere should have some steady security in the team's lineup.

Briere will return to the Avs lineup on Thursday when Colorado plays the Rangers, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports.

Briere has been a healthy scratch for the past six games after struggling to start the season. Briere was acquired in the offseason from Montreal to try and give the Avs some offensive production but he has failed to do so far. Following Colorado's 6-0 loss to the Islanders on Tuesday, this may be Avs' coach Patrick Roy trying to mix things up a bit but Briere should still be ignored in most leagues until he starts producing offensively.

Briere has been a healthy scratch for the Avs in the past six games, the Denver Post reports.

The Avs acquired Briere from the Canadiens this off-season, but he has contributed very little to the teams so far this season. With his play in decline, and his continued struggles to get into the lineup, Briere should be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Briere scored with 0.4 seconds remaining in Sunday's game vs. the Bruins to break a 1-1 tie and give the Avalanche their first win of the season.

A clutch performance from Briere, who's tie-breaking tally on Sunday was the 300th goal of his career. He skated on the team's second line against the Bruins, lining up alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Alex Tanguay. Briere, who put up 25 points in 69 games with Montreal last season, will get his fair share of opportunities in Colorado, especially considering the team's high offensive capabilities.

Briere will open with Colorado's third line against the Wild on Thursday night.

Briere had a season to forget last year in Montreal, but could be a sleeper to watch due to his new role in Colorado's offense. For now, we see Briere as a better real life player than fantasy. However, he could fall somewhere in the 30-40 point range if he remains healthy.

Daniel Briere scored a goal in Montreal's 3-2 overtime win Thursday night.

That gives Briere three goals and seven points in 13 playoff games. That's pretty good when you factor in that he's been averaging just 10:27 minutes per contest.

Danny Briere was a warrior for the Habs in their Game 7 battle with the Bruins on Wednesday night, assisting on Montreal's opening goal and scoring the Habs' insurance marker in the team's 3-1 win over Boston.

Briere was a healthy scratch in Game 5, but responded in a big way when it really mattered. His cross-ice feed to Dale Weise gave the Habs an early lead, and power play goal late in the third put the nail in the coffin for the once mighty Bruins. Briere has two goals and six points in 10 post season games.
