Despite widespread rumblings in the summer that he was being dangled in trade talks, Keith Yandle is still a valued member of the Phoenix Coyotes.

"It's part of the game," Yandle said. "You hear everything. It doesn't matter. A nobody could write something, and they're going to blow it up. Anybody can write anything. You just gotta focus on playing hockey and just having fun with it." Yandle is loyal to the Coyotes. He didn't even want to leave Phoenix during the NHL lockout. "The Coyotes are my team," he said. "I didn't want to play for another team (in Europe) and be with another organization. I wanted to just always be loyal to this team and always play here. Obviously a lot of guys went to play, but I'm happy with my decision to stay."

The Red Wings have "inquired about" Keith Yandle, according to The Detroit News' Gregg Krupa.

The Wings have lost two of their best defenseman in Nicklas Lidstrom and Brad Stuart this offseason and have yet to add any any pieces this offseason. There has been reported interest out of Calgary of Detroit's interest in Jay Boumeester, though the Wings may prefer the Coyotes' Yandle, who is signed through 2016 and is one of the better young defenseman in the game, despite the significant cost. However, Phoenix's ownership situation and the collective-bargaining agreement situation complicate the pursuit. Krupa does note that at this point, though, the Wings are "likely to play largely with what they have."

Although there was talk that Keith Yandle would be traded on Friday, Coyotes GM Don Maloney said he received no serious offers regarding Yandle.

"Keith Yandle is an assistant captain, a core member of our team and the best young offensive defenseman in the game," Maloney said. "So if we were ever to make a deal, it would have to be something very special." Yandle had 11 goals and 43 points in 82 games last season.

Keith Yandle has contributed seven assists, which currently leads all blueliners, in 11 playoff games.

His seven points has him tied with teammate Rostislav Klesla and New York's Daniel Girardi for the most among defensemen in the NHL postseason. Yandle cracked the 40-point mark for a third straight season in 2011-12, with 11 goals and 32 assists in 82 games, and is quickly establishing himself as a top-flight fantasy rearguard.

Keith Yandle leads all blueliners with seven points in eight playoff games.

Yandle is one of the reasons the Phoenix Coyotes have taken a 2-0 series lead in the second round. He added another two assists on Sunday and should continue to be among the NHL leaders in points for a defensemen as long as the Coyotes are alive in the playoffs.
