Yandle bagged another pair of assists in Saturday's overtime win over Florida.

It's been a great start for Yandle, who has recorded a goal and eight points through seven games this season. While it's fair to assume he won't maintain this point-per-game pace, another 50-point season is very possible. Averaging 26:45 of ice time per game (6:15 on power play), Yandle is a true minute muncher who is counted on big time in Arizona.

Yandle potted a goal and an assist -- both with the man advantage -- and took a season-high nine shots Tuesday in a shootout loss to the Predators.

As usual, Yandle's producing offensively in the early going. The goal was his first of the year, but he's now got five helpers in five games. Another 50-point campaign is looking like a guarantee.

Coach Dave Tippett has been experimenting with using Yandle and Oliver Ekman-Larsson on the same defensive pairing during training camp, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Yandle worked on the left side and Ekman-Larsson handled the right in Saturday's team scrimmage, after the duo had spent the previous couple of days paired up during practices. The coaching staff is still in assessing whether or not the two can cut it defensively while working in tandem, but there's no disputing the offensive fireworks that could be harvested if the arrangement ends up panning out during the regular season. Both Yandle and Ekman-Larsson ranked in the top five among defensemen in shots on goals last season, and together, their creativity with the puck would provide a needed jolt to an attack that lacks top-flight forward talent. Yandle is probably set for a bump in scoring regardless after he posted a fluky 3.3 shooting percentage a season earlier, and a partnership with Ekman-Larsson at even strength and on the power-play could potentially push him toward a new career high.

While Keith Yandle has been a standout offensively, he really needs to work on the defensive side of his game.

Yandle led the Coyotes in points this season with 53 and was tied for the NHL lead amongst blueliners with 31 power play points as the Coyotes had the fourth most goals (tied) and the fourth best efficiency rating in the NHL on the pp. But defensively it was a different story as Yandle was a minus-23 this season. here's always that risk-reward factor in it," coach Dave Tippett said. "With Yands, his power-play play this year went to another level, went to a level we hadn't seen before. He took a responsibility for improving our power play and a leadership role and did a very good job. That being said, his defensive play is still - it's inconsistent."

Keith Yandle has bounced back from a particularly rough stretch.

Yandle had a minus-10 rating over the Coyotes' recent four-game losing streak, but he's followed it up with three points in his last two contests. "When I'm trying to do too much, I"m probably not at my best," he said. "I feel like I've been simplifying a little bit, just trying to make little plays and trying not to get myself into trouble and just trying to do what I can to help my team win." The Coyotes lean heavily on Yandle, who averages 24:02 minutes per game.
