Ryan White C PHI 5 Days

White (chest) is expected to report to AHL Lehigh Valley on a conditioning assignment next week, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

White has been sidelined since late-August after undergoing surgery to repair his left pectoral muscle, so he'll essentially need an abbreviated training camp in the minors in order to get up to speed. Once he get a handful of games under his belt and reports no lingering pain, White figures to be added to the Flyers' 23-man roster. If that comes to fruition, he'd likely serve as a fourth line player for Philadelphia.

General manager Ron Hextall said White (chest) is now likely to return in late December or early January "at the latest," Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

White was initially projected to be out until February after undergoing surgery on his left pectoral muscle prior to training camp, but after he surprisingly resumed skating Tuesday, he'll be able to shave a full month off that timetable. The forward will still need several weeks in order to make up for the lost conditioning time.

White (chest) skated prior to Tuesday's practice, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 26-year-old White was projected to be out until February after requiring surgery on a torn left pectoral muscle in August, but his presence on the ice offers hope that he may be able to beat that timetable by a significant margin. While he's still likely miss several more weeks at the bare minimum, the fact that White is progressing quicker than expected is a welcome development for a player the Flyers were counting on to be a key cog on the fourth line.

White (chest) is expected to miss the next five months, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

White had surgery on his left pectoral muscle in August and will need a substantial amount of time to recover. The 26-year-old's career had been gaining steam over the past few seasons, but this injury will put him on the shelf until late February. As a result, he should be off the radar in virtually every league.

White underwent surgery Wednesday to repair his left pectoral muscle.

The Flyers haven't provided a timetable for a return for White, who signed with the organization on a one-year, two-way contract on Aug. 7. White, 26, totaled six points and 50 PIM in 52 games with the Canadiens last season. He was slated to compete for a fourth-line role with the Flyers in training camp, but those hopes could be dashed as a result of the procedure.

White signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Flyers on Friday.

White played 52 games with the Canadiens last season, posting two goals and four assists with the club along with 50 penalty minutes. He will likely slide in at center and battle for a spot on one of the bottom two lines for the Flyers.

Ryan White is waiting for his next opportunity after the Canadiens cut him loose.

"My agent is doing most of the due diligence. I'm waiting by the phone and seeing what's going on," said White. "As of now, we're just patiently waiting to see what the best opportunity is going to be." He said some teams have kicked the tires, but nothing appears to be imminent. White also might see what offers he can get from European clubs or from the KHL as well.

Ryan White will be permitted to test the free agent market on July 1.

He accounted for six points and 50 penalty minutes in 52 games with Montreal last season. The Canadiens chose not to give him a qualifying offer, which makes him an unrestricted free agent.

Ryan White took part in Monday's practice on the fourth line.

Brandon Prust joined George Parros as an extra forward. Coach Michel Therrien wouldn't share his lineup thoughts for Game 3 on Tuesday, but the addition of White could be something to watch for. He hasn't played in the 2014 playoffs yet and he dressed in 52 games with Montreal during the regular season.
