Lubomir Visnovsky D NYI 1 Day
Visnovsky will be a healthy scratch Saturday for the Islanders, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
The Islanders and Visnovsky played Friday so this may be a case where coach Jack Capuano doesn't want the veteran defenseman to play back to back nights. The truth however is that Capuano has benched Visnovsky on quite a few occasions as he seems to look for any excuse to get Brian Strait in the lineup.

Visnovsky will return to the Islanders lineup Sunday versus the Canucks, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.Visnovsky is expected to take the place of Brian Strait. With the exception of Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy, coach Jack Capuano has been rotating five defensemen for four spots over the past few weeks with Visnovsky being sat most often. Visnvosky adds a powerful shot from the point but has has lapses in the defensive zone which has caught the wrath of Capuano and been the main reason for his being a healthy scratch.

Visnovsky won't play Tuesday as the Islanders visit Carolina, according to the Islanders web site.No injury has been reported here so Visnovsky is likely once again a healthy scratch. With Calvin de Haan ready to play once again it was either Visnovsky or Brian Strait who would ride the pine and coach Jack Capuano prefers Strait at this point in time although some might wonder why as Strait really doesn't add much on offense or defense.

Visnovsky won't play Thursday at Philadelphia, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Coach Jack Capuano made the statement that the "last time we won a game Brian was in there. He deserves it." This would be some interesting strategy as Brian Strait is far from anyone's answer as a top defenseman and possesses little to no offensive ability. Coach Capuano may be feeling some pressure here and Visnovsky shouldn't be out of the lineup for long.

Visnovsky (upper body) scored the Isles' lone goal in his return to the lineup Saturday against the Red Wings.
He finished the afternoon with three shots over 18:14 of ice time, with three of those minutes coming on the power play, where he tallied his fourth goal of the season. Visnovsky will occupy a third-pairing role for the Isles now that he's back healthy again, with most of his scoring chances likely to come on the man advantage.

Visnovsky (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Saturday.
Visnovsky appears to be ready to go after missing about three weeks with the injury. The veteran rearguard has seen his offense hit the skids over the last few seasons, with an inability to stay healthy undoubtedly factoring into his decline. Even with his career on the downturn, Visnovsky will still likely represent an upgrade over Brian Strait, who he figures to replace in lineup for Saturday's tilt with the Red Wings.

Coach Jack Capuano said Visnovsky (upper body) could be a lineup option for Saturday's game against the Red Wings, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Visnovsky has been practicing since prior to the All-Star break, but wasn't cleared to return to game action when the Islanders resumed play Tuesday against the Rangers, as had been anticipated. It seems the Islanders are simply waiting for the aging rearguard to get closer to 100 percent health, and he may finally be at that point Saturday. The team's practice lines and defensive pairings during Saturday's morning skate should indicate whether or not Visnovsky will return to the lineup later that evening.

Visnovsky (upper body) will not play Tuesday against the Rangers.
It sounded like Visnovsky would be ready to play after he resumed practicing with the team last week, but evidently, the Islanders feel more comfortable about giving him some additional time off to recover. If he continues to skate without any setbacks over the next two days, he could draw back in the lineup Thursday versus the Bruins.
