Umberger netted his eighth goal of the season in Saturday's game against the Sabres, firing off five shot attempts in the victory.

Umberger has seen his production improve a bit from December and onward, but he's still not scoring with nearly the proficiency the Flyers anticipated when they acquired him from the Blue Jackets. He has just 12 points in 46 games and isn't helpful enough in other categories to compensate for the decline in scoring.

Umberger scored a pair of goals and collected two PIM in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Coyotes.

After a long, pointless drought in November, Umberger has awoken in December to the tune of six points in the month. Almost all of his points have come in road games, and he'll have three more before the Flyers return home. He's not a prolific scorer, but he could be worth a spot start in a deep league.

Umberger notched an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Wild.

Umberger has managed to gather a point in two of his last three games, but his overall output (seven in 34 contests) still represents a dispiriting output. He's been seeing most of his time on the third line this season and doesn't look primed for an elevation to a top-six role anytime soon.

Umberger tallied his second goal of the season and his first power-play point in Wednesday's shootout loss to the Ducks.

The move from Columbus to Philadelphia has proven quite unkind for Umberger, who has mustered just four points and a minus-10 rating over 25 games. While the man Umberger was traded for, Scott Hartnell, has cooled off significantly from his hot start, the trade still appears to be quite lopsided in favor of the Blue Jackets.

Umberger collected a goal, an assist, and five PIM in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Penguins.

It's the 32-year-old's first goal with his original team, and he seems to have settled in nicely. He's averaging just over 15 minutes of ice time, which fantasy owners hope will lead to a return to an 80-plus points season.

R.J. Umberger, who was reacquired by the Flyers on Monday, still feels he can contribute.

"I think I have a lot to give and still consider myself pretty young," said the 32-year-old forward. Umberger played the first three seasons of his career with Philadelphia before skating in Columbus for the next six years. Flyers coach Craig Berube called Umberger a "versatile guy who can play all positions. He's a good penalty killer who skates well," which suggests he'll be used as a depth, plug-in type player.

The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired R.J. Umberger and a 2015 fourth-round pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Scott Hartnell.

The Flyers are hoping that Umberger will bounce back after a rough 2013-14 campaign. He scored 18 goals and registered 16 assists in 74 games, which is his lowest total since 2006-07 if you factor out the shortened campaign. The change of scenery might do him so good, but given that he won't get you much more than 50 points even if he does bounce back, he's not worth the risk of drafting in standard leagues.

R.J. Umberger could be bought out by Columbus, as a last resort, if the team cannot find a trade partner for him.

The Blue Jackets believe they can trade him, though. Umberger requested to be dealt elsewhere in May and he still has three seasons remaining on his current contract at $4.6 million per year.

There's a rumor floating around that R.J. Umberger might be dealt to the Edmonton Oilers for Sam Gagner.

Take this one with a grain of salt. Umberger has requested a trade and Sam Gagner's market value did take a hit following his rough 2013-14 campaign, so at first it might not seem too bad. However, there's no question that Gagner, who will turn 25 in August, still has far more upside. Umberger can provide the Blue Jackets a list of 10 teams he won't accept a trade to and there's a good chance that the Oilers, who have struggled to gain any traction in their move away from rebuilding territory, would be one of the destinations that Umberger would reject.

R.J. Umberger has asked the Columbus Blue Jackets to trade him in the off-season.

It was mutually agreed to by the team during the season-ending meetings that took place after the first round. Umberger had 18 goals and 34 points in 74 games this season but was a healthy scratch on four occasions and that id not sit well with the veteran. He has three years left on a contract that will pay him $4.6 million per season and a no-trade clause in his contract goes into effect on June 15. He will decide at that time on 10 teams that he does not want to play for and then wait until he is dealt. Stay tuned.
