Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff hinted that Tlusty may get some ice time with one of the Jets' two power-play units, Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Cheveldayoff stated "He's (Tlusty) got the ability to play on the power-play, he can score some goals but there's a checking side to Jiri as well that Paul (Maurice) knows well from his time with him." Tlusty is a versatile player, and can play as a left or right winger. With Blake Wheeler (knee) and Mathieu Perreault (lower body) still recovering from injury, Tlusty's versatility, as well as his history with Jets head coach Paul Maurice from his days with the Canes and Leafs, make him a candidate to immediately slot into one of the Jets' two power-play units. Tlusty has only tallied 23 points in 52 games with the Hurricanes this season, however, he'll likely be inserted into Winnipeg's top-six group of forwards right away, and if he can see some additional ice-time on the power-play, he'll be an intriguing pickup going forward.

The Jets acquired Tlusty from the Hurricanes on Wednesday in exchange for a 2016 third-round draft pick and a conditional 2015 sixth-round draft pick.

The Jets were in the market for a winger after Blake Wheeler (knee) hit IR and Mathieu Perreault (lower body) suffered a likely season-ending injury, and it appears they may have found their man in Tlusty. The 26-year-old winger had managed 23 points and a minus-17 rating in 52 games with the Hurricanes, but he figures to notice improvement in both categories with the move to Winnipeg. There's a strong possibility the team will insert him in their top-six group of forwards right away, putting his fantasy value clearly on the rise.

Tlusty notched a pair of assists in Friday's win over Toronto.Tlusty now has points in back-to-back games and is up to 13 goals and 23 points in 50 games on the season. While the 26-year-old is skating on the top line with Eric Staal, he's been brutally inconsistent this season, making him unappealing in shallower fantasy leagues.

Tlusty scored the only goal for the Hurricanes in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Islanders.Tlusty took a perfect pass from Eric Staal right in front of the net for his 13th goal this campaign. Tlusty, a former first-round pick, could reach 20 goals by the time the season is said and done, but the Hurricanes are allowing too many scores while he's on the ice, as evidenced by his minus-16 rating. Tlusty's value is most apparent in deep fantasy leagues.

Tlusty returned to practice Thursday, with coach Bill Peters confirming afterward that the forward would be available for Friday's game against the Blues, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Peters acknowledged that while Tlusty isn't quite feeling 100 percent healthy, he's in good enough condition to play through whatever it is that's ailing him. Tlusty, who has tallied 12 goals and seven assists over 40 games, figures to slot in on his usual top-line spot next to the Staal brothers.

Tlusty was absent from Wednesday's practice for what coach Bill Peters described as maintenance purposes.

Tlusty, who scored a goal in Tuesday's win over the Lightning, appeared to take a hard hit into the boards during the contest, resulting in a brief trip to the locker room. While Tlusty was healthy enough to return later in the contest, he's likely still experiencing soreness on some level. He's expected to return to practice Thursday and suit up for Friday's game versus the Blues.

Tlusty registered a point for the second consecutive game Tuesday against the Lightning. His third-period goal iced the game and gave the Hurricanes a 4-2 win.

With 19 points in 40 games, Tlusty is still on track to hit the 30-point mark for the fourth consecutive season. He continues to see decent minutes on the Canes' top line alongside the Staal brother - Eric and Jordan - and provides good fantasy value in medium to deeper formats.

Tlusty snapped a three-game scoreless skid with a power-play goal, an assist and a plus-1 rating Thursday against Buffalo. He rounded out his stat line with a pair of penalty minutes.

These explosive efforts have come every so often from Tlusty, but it's been difficult to predict just when. He's just barely on a better scoring pace than last year's, so despite his plentiful abilities on the offensive end, it appears doubtful that this is the year Tlusty cracks 40 points.

Tlusty (upper body) returned to the lineup Monday against Montreal, assisting on a power play goal by Eric Staal in the third period. He saw ice time of 14:44 with four shots on goal and two hits.

Following a seven-game absence, Tlusty spent most of the game on the Canes' third line with Victor Rask and Chris Terry. With Jordan Staal (leg) also back in the lineup, this provides some interesting line combinations for head coach Bill Peters, so Tlusty could find himself back in a top-six role in the next few games. Keep him active and monitor closely.
