Tim Thomas has started 10 straight games since Peter Horachek replaced Kevin Dineen behind the bench.
"Obviously, it gives the guys a lot of confidence. He is the strength back there. He's our best penalty killer. He's an important factor," Horachek said. "The fact that he's playing all the time is just because we need to keep pushing forward. We're going to utilize him a lot." Thomas is in consideration for Team USA for the Winter Olympics. However, he will be in tough to get a roster spot with Ryan Miller, Jimmy Howard, Cory Schneider, Ben Bishop and Jonathan Quick being looked at as well.

Tim Thomas hopes to represent the United States at the Winter Olympics.
"Absolutely, absolutely," Thomas said when asked about his Olympic aspirations. "Yeah, it's one of the major factors. I only got to play [part of one period] against Finland. But the whole experience was awesome. It doesn't matter if you're playing or not in the Olympics you want to be a part of it, and I'd love to be a part of it again." The 39-year-old veteran is on Team USA's radar, but there are plenty of contenders who are probably further up the list than Thomas. Still, he could land a spot if he's playing well at the end of December.
