The New Jersey Devils aren't likely to sign Petr Sykora.

Sykora is still an unrestricted free agent. "We made a decision over the last 24-48 hours," Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said. "We're going to give some kids who played well in the minors an opportunity." Sykora will probably still be able to find work with another team. The question is if he'll get playing time as a top-six forward.

Petr Sykora reportedly has a contract offer on the table from at least one NHL team.

It's not known who has expressed an interest in Sykora, but it is possible that he'll end up re-signing with the New Jersey Devils. The Washington Capitals might also pursue Sykora, but it looks like they're not the team that made the offer. He had 21 goals and 44 points in 82 games in 2011-12. He's worth keeping an eye on as he might have a bit of fantasy value if he gets a chance to play consistently on a team's second line.

Petr Sykora is waiting for the CBA to be finalized, so that he can seek an NHL contract.

He is still at home in the Czech Republic, but would like to re-sign with the Devils. New Jersey GM Lou Lamoriello hasn't ruled out bringing Sykora back after he posted 21 goals and 44 points in 82 games with the team last season. Sykora said he is open to signing with another NHL team if something can't be worked out with the Devils.

The two sides have scheduled to meet today. Let's hope this is the beginning of the end.

Petr Sykora is considering the possibility that he could spend the entire season in Europe.

Most NHLers playing across the pond have out clauses written into their European deals that allow them to return to the NHL once the lockout ends, however since he's without an NHL deal at the moment Sykora may have to consider accepting a deal without such a clause. Just one of the many repercussions of the NHL's current labor stoppage.

The Devils are still interested in bringing back veteran winger Petr Sykora, according to general manager Lou Lamoriello.

However, he said there is nothing new to report in terms of the negotiation process. Talks between the two sides were expected to resume after Zach Parise signed with Minnesota last month.
