The New Jersey Devils have sent a 2014 seventh-round pick to the Phoenix Coyotes to get Steve Sullivan.

Sullivan has five goals and 12 points in 33 games this season. For a minimal cost, the Devils are getting a veteran player that can provide them with some secondary scoring.

As expected, Steve Sullivan took part in his 1,000th career game on Thursday.

Sullivan's Phoenix Coyotes earned a 7-4 victory against his former team, the Nashville Predators. "I don't think we could have picked a better spot to play 1,000 games," Sullivan said of Nashville. "This is where I called home for seven years. This is where my kids grew up. This is pretty much all they remember. For them to come back and see friends and family and watch a milestone night for myself, it was like it was meant to be."

Steve Sullivan is projected to play in his 1,000th career game on Thursday.

Appropriately, it will be in Nashville. Sullivan spent parts of six seasons with the Predators before joining Pittsburgh for the 2011-12 campaign. He then inked a one-year, $1,850,000 deal with the Phoenix Coyotes for 2012-13.

Steve Sullivan is hopeful that his performance in Saturday's win over Anaheim is the start of a hot streak.

In addition to potting the tying goal late in regulation to send the contest to overtime, Sullivan scored the only shootout marker for either team, earning two points for the Coyotes."That's what I was brought here to do, to help on the offensive side of the puck, and it wasn't going in," Sullivan said. "So I felt a lot of pressure." With nine points in 18 contests, the diminutive winger has been far from exceptional, but with points in two straight games he may be finding his groove.

Steve Sullivan picked up a pair of assists in Saturday's win over the Blue Jackets.

In his career, Sullivan has recorded 50 points in 49 games against Columbus, including two hat tricks. He may not be a primary offensive contributor for the Coyotes, but Sullivan's seven points in 12 games prove he's still useful, primarily in points-only leagues.

Steve Sullivan (lower body) logged 12:52 minutes in his return on Monday.

Sullivan has averaged just 13:50 minutes per contest. He still has five points in seven games, but his lack of playing time is concerning.
