Stoll (hip) may only play in one preseason game due to his recovery from hip surgery on June 24, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The veteran Stoll doesn't figure to need much preseason game action in order to get ready for the regular season. He's been a full participant in training camp thus far but may not be up to game speed until the final week of camp.

Jarret Stoll saw time with Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson during Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Coach Darryl Sutter shook up his line combinations when the Kings were down 2-0 and Jeff Carter responded immediately by setting up new linemate Kyle Clifford's first goal of the playoffs. Mike Richards also replaced Anze Kopitar between Marian Gaborik and Dustin Brown. Los Angeles will probably have their lines back to normal for the start of Game 2 on Saturday, but don't be surprised if Sutter mixes and matches again.

The upcoming series between the Kings and Ducks should help intensify the geographical rivalry.

The two teams haven't played against each other in the postseason before. "The regular season is one thing, but we all know the playoffs are a whole new ballgame when it comes to physicality and how hard you're going," Jarret Stoll said. "It's going to be a war and a battle and the travel will be great for both teams and both fan bases." The series will start on Saturday.

In order to cut off the numerous chances that sparked San Jose to 17 goals in the first three games of their first-round playoff series against Los Angeles, the Kings believe they have to cut off the middle.

That's where Sharks centers like Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski have done their damage. "They've all got skill. You want to keep plays and pucks out of the middle because that's obviously the most dangerous part of the ice," Kings center Jarret Stoll said. "That's where scoring chances happen. Their centers, they control their play. Thornton knows what he's doing out there, Pavelski, all those guys. It's just a mindset, an attitude, to keep pucks out of the middle. We understand, maybe more so now. It took a couple of lessons maybe of where they are, where their structured system is and they're very disciplined at it. The team that makes the least amount of mistakes doing those things will probably have more chances and better chance to win the game." The Kings are down 3-1 in the series and face elimination in Game 5 in San Jose tonight.
