Chris Stewart RW BUF 11 Days

Stewart remained on the ice after Tuesday's morning skate and looks like he could be a healthy scratch for the Sabres' game against the Kings, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.

Stewart has struggled all season long for the Sabres, producing just three goals and four points over 27 games. His uninspired play of late has prompted coach Ted Nolan to give him less than 10 minutes in each of the previous two contests, and now it looks like he'll head off to the press box for the first time this season. Patrick Kaleta will replace him on Buffalo's fourth line.

Stewart notched his team's only goal in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Jets.

The goal gave Stewart his first point in his last nine games, as the once productive fantasy winger seems to have vanished since being acquired by the Sabres. He does have 20 PIM, but his minus-11 rating makes him a rather unattractive option at this point.

Stewart scored a game tying goal in the third period of Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Red Wings.

Stewart has started off the season incredibly cold, with Sunday's tally marking just his second point, and first goal, of the year. He's only 27 years old and has recorded a 64 point season, so the potential is there, but the production may not be on the punchless Sabres.

Stewart is the newest right winger on the top line with center Tyler Ennis and left winger Matt Moulson, reports The Buffalo News.

Stewart has fired 26 shots on goal in nine games but has just one assist to show for his efforts. As one of Buffalo's biggest and strongest forwards, head coach Ted Nolan is hoping that he can open up some more space for Ennis and Moulson to generate some offense. Stewart's name has been a constant in the rumor mill of late and the hapless Sabres aren't in playoff contention, which may lend to the belief that the Sabres are showcasing Stewart for an eventual trade. Stewart is five years removed from a 28-goal season and still has lots of potential. He is a very risky play in fantasy at the moment but his value will certainly get a boost should he be traded.

Stewart fired seven shots on goal, but was held without a point in a loss to the Kings on Thursday.

Stewart has yet to score this year, and has registered just one point in eight games. He'll eventually get one in, and the best way to snap out of his early season funk may just be to keep shooting until one finds the back of the net.

The Bruins are interested in acquiring Stewart, reports theScore.

The Bruins have been looking for a top-six right winger following the departures of Jarome Iginla and Nathan Horton. Stewart, a bruising power forward, plays a similar straight-ahead style, but lacks the goal-scoring pedigree of Iginla and Horton. Still, it could be a good fit. Stewart's style of play fits perfectly with the Bruins and his stock will skyrocket if he gets first look on David Krejci's line. Stewart is also reportedly in high demand by other teams. It's safe to assume that everyone is available on the Sabres as they continue their re-build. Stewart has zero goals in 11 career games with Buffalo.

Chris Stewart is optimistic about the Buffalo Sabres' short-term future.

While the Sabres are in the early stages of a rebuilding effort, Stewart doesn't think it will take the team long to bounce back. At the same time, he realizes he might not be a part of it. "Obviously you're subject to all those trade rumors and all the stuff like that, but that's out of my control," Stewart said. "Like I've said before, as long as I'm a Buffalo Sabre, I'm just going to worry about helping this team win hockey games and that's all that's on my mind." Regardless of who he ends up playing for, he'll be looking to bounce back after recording 26 points and 118 penalty minutes in 63 games in 2013-14.

Chris Stewart left Saturday's contest very early with a lower-body injury.

He logged just 20 seconds of ice time in a 4-1 loss to Boston. Stewart has played in just five games with Buffalo since he was acquired from St. Louis. The Sabres have one match remaining on their 2013-14 schedule and we would assume that Stewart won't be available for it.
