Viktor Stalberg LW NAS 16 Days

Stalberg was placed on injured reserve over the weekend.

The Predators recalled Stalberg from his conditioning assignment at AHL Milwaukee on Saturday, but only for the purpose of moving him to IR after he suffered what is believed to be a serious knee injury Friday night. An official timetable hasn't been issued for his recovery period yet, but Stalberg is generally expected to miss multiple weeks.

Stalberg (knee) was recalled from his conditioning assignment at AHL Milwaukee on Saturday.

After suffering what is believed to be a serious injury in his final game Friday with Milwaukee, Stalberg won't be rejoining the Predators as a potential lineup option. He'll be evaluated closely by team doctors back in Nashville in an attempt to determine the severity of the injury, along with a potential return timetable. If the injury proves to be as significant as feared, Stalberg would more than likely be shuttled over to injured reserve.

Stalberg suffered what could be a significant knee injury during a game with AHL Milwaukee on Friday, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.

Friday was supposed to mark the final game of Stalberg's conditioning assignment at Milwaukee before rejoining the Predators, however, it looks like he could now be bound for injured reserve instead. Stalberg will head to Nashville to have his injury is evaluated, but the initial reports don't sound promising, as the forward was unable to put any weight on his right leg while leaving the ice. Stalberg was held without a point in five games for the Predators before being sent to Milwaukee for conditioning work.

The Predators sent Stalberg on a conditioning assignment with AHL Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Stalberg has seen limited playing time since returning from a lower body injury, so the Predators decided to send him to Milwaukee for the time being in order to get him some playing time. He can stay with Milwaukee for up to two weeks, so it remains to be seen exactly he will return to Nashville.

Stalberg was activated from injured reserve Friday and will be available for the Predators' game against the Jets, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.

If the Predators decide to use Stalberg on Friday, he'd likely slot in on the Preds' second line, joining Derek Roy and Craig Smith. Before returning to full practice earlier this week, Stalberg had been sidelined since Sept. 22 with the lower-body injury.

Stalberg (lower body) skated on the second line during Tuesday's practice and is close to a return, according to the Predators' official website.

Stalberg said he has "felt pretty good in practice the last few days" and has been able to continue practicing and working out, so hopefully he doesn't have to shake off too much rust once he gets the green light to re-join the lineup. If Stalberg doesn't join his teammates on their upcoming road trip to Winnipeg (Friday) and Chicago (Saturday), look for a possible return next Tuesday against the Coyotes.

Stalberg (lower body) practiced fully Friday, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.

While Stalberg figures to remain on injured reserve for Saturday's game against the Stars, the Predators have updated his condition to day-to-day. He could make his return at some point next week.

Stalberg (lower body) was a full participant in practice Tuesday, according to The Tennessean.

Stalberg was officially placed on IR Tuesday and will not play in Thursday's season opener against Ottawa. However, the fact that he's now fully taking part in practice is a very good sign. His timetable for return remains at 1-2 weeks, so look for him to possibly rejoin the lineup Oct. 14 against Calgary.

The good news is, Stalberg has been skating with the team, which means he could be close to a return. Now that he's on the IR, the earliest he could rejoin the lineup would be Oct. 14 against Calgary. In the meantime, keep him on your fantasy bench until you see his name in a boxscore.

Stalberg (lower body) skated with the team Saturday morning, his first team skate since suffering his injury Sept. 22, according to The Tennessean. "I felt pretty good," Stalberg said. "It's getting close. It's one of those things you can't push it too hard and rush it or else you have to deal with it all year. Hopefully I will be ready to go pretty soon."

According to the team, Stalberg's status remains one to three weeks on injured reserve, so expect him back sometime in mid-October. He is expected to skate on one of the Preds' checking lines once he returns.
