Matthew Stajan is happy with how he did in 2013.
"I think it was my best year personally," Stajan said. "The coaching staff showed a lot of confidence in me early in the season and gave me an opportunity. I really appreciated that and wanted to make the best of it. I felt like I did a pretty good job." Stajan had five goals and 23 points in 43 games after recording just 18 points in 61 contests in 2011-12. It's certainly a step up, but we don't anticipate him having much fantasy value in standard leagues next season.

Matthew Stajan suffered an upper body injury in the first period Monday and did not return after the intermission.
Stajan was smacked into the boards by the Avs Patrick Bordeleau who picked up a two minute minor for his indiscretion. Stajan only played 3:27 minutes on Monday and now has five goals and 23 points in 38 games for the second last place Flames. His plus-five rating is quite good considering where the Flames are in the standings. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Matt Stajan led the rebuilding Flames with two assists on Saturday night but the team dropped a 5-2 decision to the Vancouver Canucks.
Stajan is enjoying his best season as a Flame despite all the misery in Calgary this year with 23 points in 37 games.

Matt Stajan had far and away the best night of anyone for the Calgary Flames, scoring both of their goals as the Edmonton Oilers thumped them 8-2 on Wednesday.
For a much-derided player, Stajan's actually been OK this season, collecting 21 points in 35 games. He's definitely on the fringe of even deep leagues, but that $3.5 million cap hit seems semi-reasonable with his respectable production. He could see a slight uptick on a desolate roster, but don't get your hopes up too high.

Coach Bob Hartley has loved the play of Matthew Stajan this season.
Stajan was not a big part of the Flames plans with only eight goals and 18 points last season in 61 games, as he was a healthy scratch for previous coach Brent Sutter on numerous occasions. But it's been a different story this season as Stajan's play has been so impressive that he is now on the top line with Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay. "I love Matty," Hartley said. "I think he's a great student of the game. He's a great hard-worker. And it seems that he wants more. I have absolutely no problem with this. I'm very happy with him. He's been unbelievable. He's been on pucks. He's forechecking. He's winning big faceoffs. He's a great penalty-killer. Five-on-five, I use him against the top forwards of the other team." Looks like Stajan is worth picking up in deeper pools as he has three goals, nine points and a plus-eight rating in 17 games.

Matt Stajan scored his second and third goals of the season in Calagary's 3-1 win over the WIld Saturday night.
The 29 year-old forward hasn't been a legitimate fantasy force since he joined the Flames in 2009, however he was recently moved to centre Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay's line, which obviously payed off on Saturday night.

Matthew Stajan practiced alongside Alex Tanguay and Jarome Iginla on Friday.
We've seen this before and it has yet to make Stajan worthy of a fantasy pickup. This development is interesting, but it wouldn't be surprising if the promotion is also extremely temporary. Either way, we can't recommend picking up Stajan over this news.

Matthew Stajan scored his first goal of 2013 in Calgary's 4-3 victory on Sunday.
Stajan now has six points in 13 games. His stock has fallen significantly since the Calgary Flames acquired him in 2009-10 and we don't expect him to bounce back in any meaningful way this season.
