Drew Stafford RW WPG 27 Days

Stafford netted his eighth goal of the season in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Canadiens.

The 29-year-old has fared respectably in a depth role this season for the Sabres, but his half-point-per-game production coupled with a minus-19 rating likely isn't enough to entice those outside of deep leagues to scoop him up.

Stafford was activated to the playing roster prior to Friday's game against the and is expected to join the lineup, Mike Harrington of Buffalo News reports.

Stafford left the team Tuesday to join his wife for the birth of their child, but has made it back Friday. His activation indicates he should be in the lineup despite having limited on-ice work the past couple days. The team reassigned Tim Schaller on Friday to open up the roster spot.

Stafford (paternity) arrived in Tampa in advance of Friday's game, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Travel issues prevented Stafford from joining the team in Carolina a day earlier, but he had no such problems meeting up with the Sabres on Friday. Despite his limited on-ice work the last couple of days, Stafford is expected to play, though coach Ted Nolan hasn't decided on his forward lines just yet.

Stafford (personal) plans to meet the team in Tampa in time for Friday's game against the Lightning.

After leaving the team earlier in the week to witness the birth of his child, Stafford was expected to play Thursday in Carolina. However, with no flights set to arrive in Raleigh quickly enough, Stafford had to cancel and will now hop a plane to Tampa. Assuming he has better luck on the traveling front this time around, he'll likely slot back into the Buffalo lineup.

It now appears that Stafford will miss Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, as he wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups.

Coach Ted Nolan indicated earlier in the day that Stafford was en route to Carolina to join the team two days after the birth of his child, but he evidently hit a snag in his travel plans. Fortunately, the Sabres already had 12 healthy forwards at its disposal, so there will be no need to play shorthanded.

Coach Ted Nolan said Stafford (personal) is en route to joining the team in Carolina and will play Thursday against the Hurricanes, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.

The new father missed Tuesday's game against the Devils, but after taking the last day to spend time with his first child, it appears he's on track to play. Nolan wouldn't say who would come out of lineup to make room for Stafford, but look for the winger to slot in on the club's second or third line.

Stafford (personal) is expected to return to action Thursday against the Hurricanes, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Stafford was a late scratch for Tuesday's contest following the birth of his child, but after taking the time to meet the newest member of his family, he'll soon rejoin the Sabres. The winger has six goals, 20 points and a minus-16 rating over 37 games this season, production that isn't strong enough to warrant a look in most formats.

Stafford (personal) will not be available for Tuesday's game against the Devils, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.

The winger returned to Buffalo to witness the birth of his child, but he could rejoin the team in time for Thursday's game in Carolina. The Sabres could be without Cody McCormick (lower body) on Tuesday as well, and if that's the case, the team would have to get by with a lineup of 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

Stafford chipped with two third-period helpers in Saturday's victory over the Islanders.

Stafford also spent two minutes in the penalty box during the third period, which ending up proving fortuitous when Zemgus Girgensons was able to find the net for a shorthanded goal. The two-point outing helped Stafford tie Girgensons for second on the team in scoring this season with 19 points.

Stafford has a point in each of his four games since returning from a lower-body injury.

Stafford has accrued a goal, three assists and seven shot attempts during that span. His plus/minus remains something of a drain at minus-9 for the season, but the Sabres' winning ways of late nonetheless have his fantasy value on the upswing.
