Setoguchi (upper body) saw 9:28 of action Monday against the Hurricanes, finishing the night with a minus-2 rating in the 4-1 loss.

Setoguchi had previously left Saturday's game against the Panthers with the injury, but it apparently wasn't serious enough to force him out of further action. The veteran winger hasn't been a beneficiary of the Flames' surprisingly strong start to the season, as he's failed to provide a point while going minus-7 over 10 games.

Setoguchi left Saturday's game against the Panthers with an upper body injury, Scott Cruickshank of the Calgary Herald reports.

Setoguchi skated about five-and-a-half minutes and recorded a minus-2 rating on Saturday before being sidelined with the injury. The winger has no points through nine games this year, and should be considered day-to-day until we hear more.

Setoguchi (illness) returned to the ice for practice Friday, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.

Setoguchi was held out of practice Thursday because of the illness, but his return to practice Friday indicates he should be fine if needed. That being said, he will likely be a healthy scratch anyway.

Setoguchi didn't take part in Thursday's morning skate due to an illness, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The FAN reports.

Setoguchi would likely be a healthy scratch anyway Thursday, so the illness gives the Flames further reason to send him to the press box.

Setoguchi was a healthy scratch for Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Vancouver.

Setoguchi had 27 points with Winnipeg last season but seems to have been passed by some of the younger forwards in Calgary. Coach Bob Hartley does not hesitate to make lineup changes, however, so he may see the ice as soon as Thursday at Edmonton.

Setoguchi is no longer bothered by the lower-body injury that he suffered early in camp, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.

Since being held out of a Sept. 22 practice with the injury, Setoguchi has made appearances in two preseason games, suggesting he's back to full health. Setoguchi is set to play in the Flames' exhibition finale Saturday, skating on a line with Jiri Hudler and Matt Stajan.

Setoguchi is day-to-day with a lower body injury, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.

There's no word on the nature of Setoguchi's injury, but the fact that the team is calling him day-to-day is a good sign that he'll be ready to suit up for the start of the regular season.

Setoguchi signed a one-year deal with the Flames on Saturday.

Setoguchi spent last season with the Jets, scoring 11 goals to go with 16 assists in 75 games. The seven-year veteran has amassed 127 goals and 122 assists in his career. It's a fairly low-risk move for Calgary, which can let go of Setoguchi after next season if he fails to regain the offensive touch that led to three straight 20-plus goal seasons with the Sharks.

Devin Setoguchi will probably be permitted to test free agency this summer.

He registered just 11 goals and 27 points in 75 matches. "This was a little bit of a struggle this year for me," said Setoguchi. "Obviously it wasn't up to the standards I would have liked to have had it. There's a lot to reflect on for the summer."
