Teemu Selanne said it's too soon to speculate on whether he'll return to the NHL next season.

Selanne did say there's a feeling of "unfinished business" after the second-seeded Ducks were eliminated by the Red Wings on Sunday night. Selanne has made it clear how much he enjoys playing with this group of teammates and it wouldn't shock us if he wanted to back at the age of 43. However, truth be told, this decision will likely linger far into the summer as it usually does. Stay tuned.

Teemu Selanne did not speculate Sunday night as to whether or not he would retire.

This is a yearly question with the "Finnish Flash" and at age 42 and closing in on 43, it's no wonder. He loves the core group of guys with the Ducks and that is what makes the decision for him so difficult as he can see success in the future. Stay tuned as usual for Selanne's decision in the summer.

Teemu Selanne registered an assist in Game 2.

Selanne now has two points in as many postseason contests and is on a modest three-game point streak that dates back to the regular season. Although he took a step backwards in terms of production in 2013, he should continue to be a big offensive threat in the playoffs.

Teemu Selanne was rejuvenated in Game 1 of Anaheim's first-round series against Detroit.

Selanne netted the game-winner in the Ducks' 3-1 victory. "This is the best time for a hockey player," Selanne said. "That's what makes this so special. ... A couple of games off helped me. If you can't get up for the playoffs, something is wrong." He had 12 goals, 24 points, and a minus-10 rating in 46 games this season. Those were impressive numbers given his age, but it also represented a noticeable decline from his 2011-12 pace.

Teemu Selanne scored the game-winning goal in Anaheim's 3-1 Game 1 victory over Detroit on Tuesday night.

The 42-year-old ageless wonder played just over 13 minutes, but he seemed to generate countless offensive chances throughout the game. His goal came on the powerplay early in the third frame. Look for Selanne to play a key role in the series. Nick Bonino opened the scoring for the Ducks, while Francois Beauchemin added an empty net insurance marker.

The Anaheim Ducks have five players on the roster who are at least 35-years-old.

Teemu Selanne leads the way as the veteran is 42, but Saku Koivu is 38, Sheldon Souray and Radek Dvorak are 36 with Toni Lydman the baby of the group at 35. "Playoffs are ... it's the best time for a hockey player," said Selanne who could retire at the end of the season. "My expectations for this team and myself are very high. It means a lot. Obviously, when you're years up the road, you try to take the opportunity you have and try to take advantage of it." The Ducks take on the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs with Game 1 on Tuesday in Anaheim.
