Brian Rolston LW BOS 11 Months
Brian Rolston announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday.
Rolston didn't play in the NHL this season and admitted in January that retirement was "most than likely." Rolston played for five teams during his career, but will mostly be associated with the Devils and Bruins. He finishes his career with 342 goals and 761 points in 1,256 career NHL games.

Brian Rolston admitted that him retiring is "more than likely" at this point.
Rolston is an unrestricted free agent and while a team might still offer him a contract, it's doubtful at the age of 39. The lockout certainly didn't help matters as it resulted in him missing a prolonged period of time at an age where he can't afford it. "I've had a great career," Rolston said. "You play for 17 years, I'm very content. At the same time you have that feeling like, 'Am I really done?' You've been doing it so long, you feel like you have to go back and do something. But I'm happy if this is the end of my career. I've faced the reality of that." Rolston has 342 goals and 761 points in 1,256 career NHL games.

It doesn't appear as though the Boston Bruins intend to re-sign Brian Rolston prior to July 1.
He played well for the Bruins after being acquired at the trade deadline with three goals and 12 assists in 21 contests. The 39-year-old forward said after the season was over that he wasn't sure if he wanted to retire, so he might see what offers are out there before making a decision.

Rolston managed to turn his career around in Boston, with three goals and 15 points in 21 regular season games. He also had a goal and three points in seven playoff contests. He'd like to re-sign with Boston if he decides to return for the 2012-13 campaign.

Brian Rolston is projected to play on Boston's top line with Milan Lucic and David Krejci on Saturday.
Boston has had trouble scoring goals in their first round series, but Rolston has been one of their best players with a goal and three points in four games. Maybe his presence will help spark Lucic and Krejci, who are both scoreless in the postseason.

Brian Rolston registered an assist on Chris Kelly's game-winning goal.
Rolston has been great since the New York Islanders traded him to Boston. The defending Stanley Cup champions could go far again this season, which makes Rolston look like a great value pick in playoff pools.

Brian Rolston thought his career might be coming to an end when he was placed on waivers by the New York Islanders, but the veteran forward has changed his tune since being acquired by Boston.
"I thought when I got to the Island that I'd have a little more responsibility than I did," he said. "But it didn't work out that way. Then all of a sudden it didn't look like I had anything. So to get this new opportunity has been great. I feel like I've taken advantage of the opportunity, and I feel great. It's been rejuvenating." He was traded to the Bruins shortly after he cleared through waivers and has played well with his team. Rolston notched three goals and 12 assists in 21 games with the Black and Gold after he produced just nine points over 49 contests with the Islanders.

Brian Rolston extended his current point streak to seven games with an assist on Tuesday night.
He has amassed three goals and nine assists over that span to give him 13 points in 16 contests since he was acquired from the New York Islanders at the trade deadline. To put things into perspective, Rolston had posted a mere nine points in 49 appearances with the Islanders prior to the move. Feel free to snatch him up for the remainder of the season.
