Mikkel Boedker LW PHO 25 Days

Boedker (ruptured spleen) has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

GM Don Maloney confirmed Sunday that both Boedker and Martin Hanzal are out for the season. Boedker, who last played on Jan. 18, thus finishes up the 2014-15 campaign with 14 goals and 28 points in 45 games.

Boedker (ruptured spleen) is without a timetable for a return, but hopes to be able to play this season, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Boedker underwent successful surgery on his ruptured spleen on Jan. 20 and was initially expected to miss 4-6 weeks. According to McLellan, Boedker has been making some progress in his recovery, but it's unclear when he'll return to the ice.

Coach Dave Tippett said Thursday that Boedker lost approximately 20 pounds due to the ruptured spleen, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Boedker has been out of the hospital for almost a couple weeks now, but he's still trying to regain some weight after the scary incident. The forward has yet to resume skating and isn't expected to be back in action for another 2-to-4 weeks.

Boedker (ruptured spleen) will rejoin the team in Arizona on Thursday, but will remain out for another 3-to-5 weeks, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Boedker had been hospitalized in Winnipeg after a hit to the gut during a game against the Jets prior to the All-Star break required surgery. He's been resting comfortably for several days, and expects to have the stitches on his chest removed Sunday or Monday. The Coyotes will probably keep Boedker off the ice for another week or two before he tries to work himself back into playing shape.

Boedker (upper body) has been placed on IR by the Coyotes, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

With the Coyotes having referred to Boedker as week-to-week earlier Monday, his placement on IR is not surprising. At this stage, there is no timetable for Boedker's potential return to action.

Boedker is listed as week-to-week by the Coyotes with an upper-body injury.

The week-to-week classification suggests that Boedker -- who leads the Coyotes with 14 goals -- could miss a decent chunk of time, starting with Tuesday's game against Chicago.

Boedker (upper body) left Sunday's loss to the Jets with what Coach Dave Tippett has indicated is an upper body injury. He is considered day-to-day and his status for Tuesday's matchup with Chicago is uncertain.

Boedker leads the Coyotes in goals so his absence hurts an already limited attack. Look for updates on his status after the Coyotes practice Monday.

Boedker scored his 13th goal of the season Tuesday in a loss to San Jose. He took two shots and added a hit in the contest.

While the Coyotes struggle overall this season, Boedker continues to emerge as a good young winger. This is his fourth goal and fifth point in his past three games, and with 27 points on the season he is in line for his second consecutive 50-plus point campaign.

Boedker scored Arizona's only goal in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Senators. He now has four points, including three goals, in his last two games.

He fired a wrister from in front and rang it in off the crossbar at the 4:31 mark of the first. The point moves into a tie with Antoine Vermette for the team lead (27 points). Take advantage of this little spurt if you rely on him.
