Tuukka Rask turned aside 23 shots in a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers Tuesday night.

The Rangers registered 11 shots in the first period, but they mustered just 13 in the next two stanzas. Still, Rask deserves some credit for keeping the Bruins close after two periods and allowing them to stage a third-period comeback. New York has scored only five goals on Rask in three games in their Eastern Conference Semifinal series, which is why they trail Boston 3-0 and are one loss away from playoff elimination.

The Bruins had no trouble getting the puck past Lundqvist in Game 2 but at the same time Rask stole the game for the B's. He stopped 35 of 37 shots in the 5-2 win. Both goalies have seen a ton of rubber this series. Lundqvist has faced 80 shots while Rask has seen 72 thrown his way. Another good outing from Rask tonight and the Bruins are just one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Boston Bruins' offensive outburst overshadows the fact that Tuukka Rask had another great performance in a 5-2 win against the New York Rangers in Game 2 on Sunday.

Rask has now won three games in a row. Rask now has nearly the same save percentage (.928) as he did during his excellent regular season (.929). It's getting tougher and tougher to deny that Rask is one of the better options among goalies, even if he isn't as flashy as Tim Thomas.

Tuukka Rask and the Bruins are certainly not looking past the New York Rangers despite winning Game One of their playoff series.

"There were a couple of shifts where we couldn't get the puck out of our end," Rask said. "We couldn't get a change, and we had to ice it a couple of times. They're big guys, they're strong guys. When they play down low, they're pretty tough to strip of the puck. It's a big challenge for us." The Bruins definitely appear to have momentum on their side after their stunning Game Seven comeback against Toronto, but shouldn't ignore the fact the Rangers came back from 2-0 series deficit to defeat the Capitals in the first round.

Tuukka Rask turned aside 33 shots as the Boston Bruins defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 in overtime Thursday.

The Bruins are up 1-0 in the best-of-seven series. Rask is now 5-3 in the playoffs with a 2.36 GAA and a .926 save percentage in the 2013 playoffs. He gave up a goal to Ryan McDonagh with two seconds left in the second and then gave up a goal 14 seconds into the third stanza as Derek Stepan beat him with a snap shot but he was perfect after that to lead the Bruins to the victory.

The Bruins first round series with the Maple Leafs was a fairly high-scoring one which resulted in Rask having a 2.49 GAA (10th in the playoffs) and a .923 SV% (7th). He will need to be on his 'A' game in the second round because he will be going head-to-head with Henrik Lundqvist.

Tuukka Rask doesn't view Boston's semifinal match-up as him versus New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

"I don't care if there's a wall out there, I just want to beat the other team," Rask said Wednesday prior to Game 1 Thursday night. "I don't want to put too much into this 'goalie matchup' talk. Sometimes you face a hot goalie and he's unbeatable, but for us it's more team vs. team. I just try to do the best I can to help us win games." Rask and Lundqvist had very similar numbers during the regular season, but Lundqvist had superior statistics in the first round of the playoffs. "I don't feel like I've been extraordinary," Rask said of his postseason play. "I feel I can be better. Consistency is the key, but you have to make the big save at the big moment." And he has displayed a penchant for doing that so far.
