Kyle Quincey doesn't anticipate the Detroit Red Wings making significant defensive adjustments to counteract Chicago uniting Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Patrick Sharp on its top line.

"If we do anything different, [Marian] Hossa and the other guys will just burn us," Quincey said. "It's status quo for us. Obviously, they're all great players and we have to respect them and keep their time and space to a minimum." The Blackhawks have scored just two goals in their last three games, so they're hoping that stacking their first line will spark their offense. Chicago's a very deep team though, so as Quincey noted, Detroit can't focus its attention extensively on one line.

Kyle Quincey was a healthy scratch Sunday.

He was replaced by Brendan Smith in the lineup. "I don't have much to say on it," Quincey said. "Three guys are waiting and all ready to play and they're all good defensemen, so it's the nature of the beast." He has not had any fantasy value this season.

Kyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) thinks he might be able to play on Thursday.

That being said, it sounds like the Red Wings might not use Quincey on Thursday even if he declares himself ready to return. "It'll be a battle because DeKeyser thinks he's playing Thursday, too," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said, referring to Dan DeKeyser, who will try to make the jump straight from the NCAA to the NHL after signing with the Red Wings.

Kyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) can resume working out.

Quincey might start skating next week and return within two weeks, according to Red Wings GM Ken Holland. If that proves to be the case, then it would be at the early end of Quincey's timetable. Any setback could potentially kill Quincey's chances of returning before the playoffs.

Kyle Quincey will not require surgery to repair his fractured cheekbone.

That has to be good news for the veteran defenseman who was injured on March 15 when struck by a puck. He will still be out another three-five weeks so his regular season could be over if it is the latter length of time.
