Teddy Purcell has scored in two straight games following a 13-game goal drought.
He has had his share of lengthy goal slumps over the past two seasons despite being a dangerous offensive threat for the Lightning. Purcell scored a career-high 24 goals last season but he also had a 16-game stretch without a goal that year. "You just have to battle through it," Purcell said of the droughts. "You can't get down and feel sorry for yourself. It's a tough league, and it's a long season. Those things are going to happen. I just hope it doesn't happen anymore." In 29 matches this campaign, he has registered six markers and 18 assists for 24 points.

Teddy Purcell agrees with Tampa Bay coach Guy Boucher that he needs to be a little more selfish with the puck and start shooting more.
"I consider myself a goal scorer, but I've always been a pass-first guy," said Purcell, who hasn't scored a goal in 11 consecutive games. "It's a bad habit I've got to break." He has taken just 43 shots in 25 matches this season. Purcell has only four goals, but sits third on the team in scoring with 21 points. He will look to put an end to his goal drought Tuesday night against Florida.

Teddy Purcell had a goal and an assist in the Lightning's 8-3 rout over the Jets on Friday night.
Just like there were three players with three-point nights, there were also three with two-point efforts. Benoit Pouliot also had a goal and a helper, while Eric Brewer had two assists. Ryan Malone and Nate Thompson also scored. Tampa Bay had only five players who didn't find the score sheet in this win. Pretty remarkable.

Teddy Purcell called the negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement "hopeless" on Monday.
Purcell hasn't been happy with the latest developments, which includes the messiness of last Thursday's media conferences and Monday's cancellations of games through Dec. 30. The Tampa Bay winger said he expects to be playing in Europe not long after Christmas. "I've been trying to stay positive the last couple of months that something was going to get done," Purcell said. "Hopefully, something still gets done, but I don't want to take a whole year off. I know I want to go play. You just want to stay competitive."

Teddy Purcell doesn't want the NHL to lose a year because of a lockout because it hurts the players.
"I don't think it's good for anybody - older guys who only have a couple of years left, they don't want to miss a year, and younger guys like me, who are just starting to establish themselves in the league," he said. "As a player, you want to take the next step in your career, and a year off would hinder that." Purcell established career highs in 2011-12 with 24 goals and 65 points in 81 games and he signed a three-year contract extension back in July. He also stated that like many other players, he is considering playing in Europe if the season gets canceled.
