Brandon Prust skated with Rene Bourque and Lars Eller during Thursday's morning session.

He will return to the lineup on Thursday night in Game 6 after serving his two-game suspension. Prust will be taking injured winger Dale Weise's spot on the Canadiens' third line.

No surprise there, but now we have confirmation. Prust was forced to miss two games after he delivered a late hit to Derek Stepan that left the Rangers forward with a broken jaw.

Stepan suffered a broken jaw as a result of the blow. Prust was forced to miss Games 4 and 5 of the Eastern Conference Final as punishment for his actions.

Brandon Prust is sorry that he injured Derek Stepan with his late hit in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Prust was suspended two games for the hit in the first period that broke Stepan's jaw. The former Ranger texted Stepan to say he felt "awful" about the result of the hit. "It's an unfortunate injury, unfortunate for him and unfortunate for me," Prust said. "I'm not out there trying to injure anybody, and (Stepan's) a friend of mine. My main focus of my hit was keeping my elbow tucked and trying to make sure I got him in the chest. By no means, whether they're friends or not, you don't want to injure anybody." The Canadiens trail in the series 2-1, with Game 4 on Sunday night.

Brandon Prust has received a two-game suspension for his hit on Derek Stepan.

Prust's hit was called "late" and "violent" and was ruled as interference. Stepan suffered a broken jaw and needed surgery as a result. Prust will be eligible to return on Thursday for Game 6, should the series last that long.

Prust wasn't penalized for the first period hit, but the Rangers felt it was a high hit. Stepan briefly left the game, but returned for the remainder of the contest.

The incident occurred early in the first period. The Rangers felt Prust's hit focused on Stepan's head. Fortunately Stepan didn't appear to be badly hurt as a result of the incident.

Brandon Prust didn't participate in Thursday's morning skate, but he will be available for Game 3 against the New York Rangers.

It was an optional session, but coach Michel Therrien said that changes could be made to Montreal's lineup with the team down 2-0 in the series. Prust has been a healthy scratch two times in the playoffs.

There are six players who will particiapte in the Canadiens/Rangers series who have played for the opposite team at one point in their respective careers.

Current Habs Brandon Prust and Dale Weise played for the Rangers, while current New Yorkers Ryan McDonough, Benoit Pouliot, Dominic Moore and Raphael Diaz all were once part of the Canadiens' organization. It will be interesting to see how Prust, Weise and Diaz perform as they all switched teams in the last two seasons.

Montreal inserted Brandon Prust back into the lineup for Game 5 on Saturday.

Prust spent two games in the press box. He was limited to 8:28 minutes of ice time and was credited with one hit in Montreal's 4-2 loss to Boston.
