Carey Price (knee) will miss the remainder of the Eastern Conference Final.

It's still possible for Price to play in the Stanley Cup Final if Montreal makes it that far. That will be difficult for the Canadiens though. The New York Rangers have a solid team and Montreal is dependent on Price. Peter Budaj might be decent in Price's absence, but he's unlikely to measure up to Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist.

Carey Price (knee) didn't participate in Monday's optional practice.

Price wasn't the only Canadiens' regular to skip the skate though, so we can't come to any conclusions based on his absence. He is still questionable for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final.

It's looking like Carey Price will be a game-time decision for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final on Monday night.

He had a therapy day on Sunday and coach Michel Therrien said: 'We'll see if he's ready to go tomorrow." Price is believed to be playing through chronic tendinitis in his knee, so being run over in Game 1 by New York's Chris Kreider could be a concern for the Canadiens going forward. If Price can't go on Monday then Peter Budaj will start in his place.

The Montreal Canadiens didn't guarantee that Carey Price will be able to play in Game 2 against the Boston Bruins on Monday.

Price may be banged up from a collision with New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider from Game 1 on Saturday. Peter Budaj played (and struggled) in replacing Price late yesterday. It's worth mentioning that Price played through an injury during the 2014 Olympics, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him gut it out, but we'll need to wait and see.

Carey Price is not on the ice for practice on Sunday.

Price did not play in the third period on Saturday and there were rumors that he was injured when Rangers forward Chris Kreider crashed into him in the second period but the possible injury was denied by Montreal coach Michel Therrien. Nevertheless, Peter Budaj and Dustin Tokarski are the two Montreal netminders on the ice at practice so stay tuned to see if Price is actually injured or just taking the day off.

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said Carey Price sitting for the third period had nothing to do with an injury.

"You never want to see your goalie lying on the ice," Therrien said, "but the fact we didn't bring him out for the third period had nothing to do with it." Rangers forward Chris Kreider crashed into Price feet-first after he was tripped on a break toward the net early in the second period. Price needed a few moments to gather himself. He'd allow two more goals (four in all) and be yanked for Peter Budaj for the start of the third period. "The fact that he didn't play in the third period, that was more to protect him than anything, because we were not sharp in front of him," Therrien said. Price made 16 saves in the Game 1 loss

Carey Price allowed four goals on 20 shots in two periods of work in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Peter Budaj entered the game in relief to start the third period and he permitted three goals on eight shots. Price appeared to be injured when New York winger Chris Kreider slid into him after missing on a breakaway, but he stayed in the game after the collision. It isn't clear if he was pulled because of injury. It might've just been a precautionary move with the Canadiens already down 4-1 after two periods.

Although there is still much hockey to be played, Carey Price is the current favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL's playoff MVP.

At least according to Sportsnet. Fellow goalies Henrik Lundqvist (Rangers) and Corey Crawford (Blackhawks) are second and third on the list, while Anze Kopitar is the Kings' representative in the top four. If the Habs do win the Cup, it will surely be in large part due to Price's play.

A complete effort by the Habs and fantastic goaltending from Carey Price allowed Montreal to overcome a 3-2 series deficit and eliminate the Bruins with a 3-1 win in Game 7 on Wednesday night.

Price was instrumental in helping the Habs topple the President's Trophy winners and defending Eastern Conference Champions. He made 29 of 30 saves in Game 7 to follow up his 26 save shutout in Game 6, improving his playoff record to 8-3 this season. Price is 5-0 with just two goals allowed in elimination games this year, winning the quarters, semis and finals of the Olympics for Canada, and Games 6 & 7 in this series. Montreal will take on the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final.

Carey Price was excellent Monday night as he earned a shutout in Montreal's 4-0 win over the Bruins in Game 6 of their second round playoff series.

Price turned aside all 26 shots he faced in the victory to force a seventh game, which will go Wednesday night in Boston. A strong performance from the Olympian will only improve on what has already been a fantastic year for the young netminder.
