Kassian will not require offseason surgery to deal with the back issue that kept him out of the Vancouver lineup down the stretch.

Kassian, who last suited up on March 14, now has the offseason for his back issue to settle down. In 42 games this past season, he notched 10 goals, 16 points and 81 PIM. He remains under contract with Vancouver next season at a cap hit of of $1.75 million.

Kassian (back) resumed skating on his own last Friday.

The winger has yet to receive clearance to practice with the rest of the team, which will prevent him from being unavailable for the start of the Canucks' first-round series with the Flames. Coach Willie Desjardins would likely be loath to make any lineup changes if the Canucks play well in the early stages of the playoffs, so Kassian may have a tough time cracking the forward ranks once he's back at full health.

Kassian (back) hasn't resumed practicing with the Canucks, Jim Jamieson of the Vancouver Province reports.

Kassian suffered the back injury March 17 and has been limited ever since. At this point, it appears highly doubtful he'll play again during the regular season, and his status for the first round of the playoffs could be in jeopardy as well.

Kassian (back) is not with the Canucks on their current four-game road trip, the Province reports.

Coach Willie Desjardins didn't completely rule Kassian out for the entire trip, but he did confirm that the forward won't play either Monday against the Blues or Tuesday against the Preds.

Kassian (back) reportedly suffered a minor setback while skating last week, Jon Abbott of TSN 1040 reports.

With Kassian evidently not yet close to 100 percent, his status moving forward remains cloudy as Thursday's game against the Avs approaches.

Kassian (back) will not play Tuesday against the Jets, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.

Kassian didn't even take part in the morning skate with the Canucks, so it wouldn't appear that he's closing in on a return quite yet. He'll miss his fifth straight game Tuesday, and it looks like he could be on course to miss time beyond that.

Kassian (back) has been ruled out for the Canucks' two-game road trip over the weekend.

As expected by his limited participation during Friday's session, Kassian will be held out of his third and fourth consecutive games in an attempt to aid his recovery from the back issue. The Canucks appear inclined to roll with Alex Burrows as the top-line right wing in his absence.

Kassian (back) was limited to skating on his own prior to Friday's practice, Jon Abbott of TSN 1040 reports.

Kassian has missed the last two games due to the back issue, and since he has yet to resume practicing with the team, it appears unlikely that he'll travel with the Canucks for their two-game road trip over the weekend. Expect coach Willie Desjardins to provide word on Kassian's status for the trip before the Canucks head to Hollywood for Saturday's tilt with the Kings.

Kassian (back) will not play Thursday against the Blue Jackets, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.

Kassian was able to get in a solo skate under the watchful eye of coach Glenn Carnegie, but he won't be a candidate to play until he starts practicing with the main group. As a result, Alex Burrows is slated to take Kassian's spot on the top line for the second straight game.

Kassian sustained an injury during the Canucks' morning skate and will not be available Tuesday against the Flyers, Dan Murphy of Sporstnet reports.

Coach Willie Desjardins alluded to an absence for one of the Canucks' regular skaters following the morning session, and it would seem that Kassian was the player he had in mind. Fortunately, the Canucks will get winger Alex Burrows (lower body) back from injury Tuesday, so it's seems likely that he'll assume Kassian's top-line spot next to the Sedins. Kassian will be listed as day-to-day ahead of Thursday's match versus the Blue Jackets.
