Hamonic (knee) didn't participate in Monday's optional practice, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.

Although the practice was highly optional, it would also seem highly unlikely that Hamonic would play without participating in at least one practice. Hamonic may be more week to week than day to day at this point.

Hamonic (knee) is unlikely to play Game 3 Sunday versus the Capitals, according to Newsday.

Hamonic still hasn't practiced since suffering the injury during the last week of the regular season. Like every team in the playoffs the Islanders are playing it very close to the vest as to the exact nature of his injury and when he might return but the fact that he isn't skating more or less practicing pretty well tells you all you need to know about his chances of playing Sunday.

Hamonic (undisclosed) is likely out for Game 2 versus the Capitals on Friday, according to the Newsday's Arthur Staple.

The bottom line is Hamonic hasn't skated all week and although the Islanders keep calling him day to day, that seems to be a generous description. If Hamonic is able to play in this series, it will likely be in the late rather than the early games.

Hamonic (undisclosed) is likely to miss Wednesday's playoff opener against the Caps, according to Newsday. NHL.com reports.

With regard to Hamonic's injury and a potential timetable for the blueliner's return, coach Jack Capuano noted Tuesday, "it's undisclosed and there's no timetable...When there is I'll let you know." Hamonic, who last suited up on April 10, finished the regular season with 33 points and 85 PIM in 71 games.

Hamonic (knee) doesn't practice Wednesday.

This is not a surprise as it would be an upset if Hamonic suits up for Wednesday's playoff opener versus the Capitals. His loss would be a big one as Hamonic is the Islanders top defender and would be the one expected to keep Alexander Ovechkin in check, a job that will now fall to Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy.

Hamonic (knee) is questionable at best to play Wednesday versus the Capitals, according to Newsday.

Hamonic suffered the injury during Friday's game against the Penguins and sat out the season finale Saturday. If he were to miss any time it would be a big blow to the Islanders who are already short on defense and can't afford to lose their best defender with Alexander Ovechkin waiting to announce his presence during the playoffs.

Coach Jack Capuano said Hamonic (undisclosed) will be evaluated Saturday, ESPN's Katie Strang reports.

With Hamonic scheduled to undergo testing after leaving Friday's win over the Penguins with the injury, it appears safe to rule him out for Saturday's season finale against the Blue Jackets. The Islanders are likely more concerned about having Hamonic available for the postseason, as his improvement this season has certainly been a key reason why the team has been able to make a sizable jump in the standings. Over 71 games, Hamonic has contributed five goals, 33 points, and a plus-15 rating to go along with huge hit (213) and block (131) totals.

Hamonic left Friday's game against the Penguins with an undisclosed injury and will not return.

Hamonic headed to the dressing room in the first period of Friday's contest after taking a hip check from Rub Scuderi. Fantasy owners and Islanders fans will both hope the injury isn't serious, as Hamonic has been a consistent offensive producer from the blue-line for the team all season. He will be sorely missed if he's unable to suit up for any part of the Islanders' impending first round playoff series. The team should provide an update on his status in the coming days.

Hamonic gathered an assist and put six shots on net in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Much of the attention for the Isles' improvement on the blue line this season has been directed toward Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk, but Hamonic deserves some credit, too. The 24-year-old has nearly doubled his scoring from a season earlier, contributing five goals and 27 assists over 68 games. He's showing no signs of cooling down as the playoffs approach, as he's notched three assists and 12 shots on goal over his last four games.
