Gilbert registered an assist in on the Habs' lone goal in Wednesday's Game 3 loss to the Lightning.

Gilbert has tallied either a goal or assist in each of the three games of the series and ranks as the team's second-highest scorer during the postseason with four points. While it's been a nice run for the defensemen, the Habs simply can't hope to overcome the 3-0 deficit unless their big guns at forward (Max Pacioretty, Tomas Plekanec, to name a couple) aren't producing.

Gilbert scored his first career NHL playoff goal in Friday's Game 5 loss to Ottawa.

While it was a nice milestone for Gilbert, the Habs are in trouble, having lost two straight games. The 32-year-old isn't a big offensive producer, having registered just one point in these playoffs, but he's logging decent minutes and has posted a 45-point season in his past. Don't expect many more goals, but he does play on the second power-play unit, so he could rack up a few more points if the Habs make it out of the first round.

Gilbert (upper body) will return to the lineup for Wednesday's postseason opener against the Senators, John Lu of TSN reports.

With Gilbert now healthy after missing the Canadiens' last two regular-season contests, Sergei Gonchar, Greg Pateryn, and Mike Weaver will head to the press box to serve as the healthy scratches on defense. The 32-year-old Gilbert had a rough first season in Montreal, seeing his scoring total drop 16 points from the total of 28 he posted with the Panthers in 2013-14.

Gilbert (upper body) practiced with the Canadiens on Monday, Eric Engels of reports.

Gilbert's participation in practice could have him in line for a return to the lineup when the Canadiens begin their first-round playoff series with the Senators on Wednesday. The blueliner missed the Habs' final two regular-season contests due to the injury.

Gilbert (upper body) will travel to Toronto for Saturday's regular-season finale.

Gilbert wasn't a participant in Friday's practice due to the injury, but coach Michel Therrien reaffirmed afterwards that the blueliner is day-to-day. He'll still have the opportunity to play Saturday if he's able to take part in the Habs' morning skate without incident.

Gilbert will miss Thursday's game against the Red Wings with an upper-body injury.

Gilbert recently returned to the lineup after fracturing his jaw, so it's possible he may still be experiencing some sensitivity in that area. The Habs are listing him as a day-to-day, which will give Gilbert a shot at returning to the lineup for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Maple Leafs. Gilbert will be replaced by Greg Pateryn on Thursday.

Gilbert returned to the lineup Thursday after missing four games with a fractured jaw. He scored a goal and had a team-high four blocked shots in 21:28 of ice time in a 5-4 shootout loss to Washington.

Gilbert, who wore extra protection on his helmet, skated on the third pairing with Nathan Beaulieu. At plus-9 for the season, Gilbert ranks third among the team's defensemen.

Gilbert (fractured jaw) practiced on the third defensive pairing Tuesday and could be back in the lineup for Thursday's game against Washington, the Montreal Gazette reports.

Changes on the blue line were expected after Monday night's loss to Tampa Bay, a game in which head coach Michel Therrien was not pleased with the defense. Gilbert has been out the last four games due to the injury.

Gilbert (face) will not play Saturday against the Panthers, Jessica Rusnak of TSN Radio 690 reports.

Gilbert was able to skate on his own Saturday morning, but his lack of involvement in team work suggests he'll sit for a third straight game. Nathan Beaulieu will be able to remain in the lineup with Gilbert still unavailable.
