Sestito was reassigned to AHL Albany on Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. Sestito cleared waivers earlier in the day and was no longer needed on the active roster with Tuomu Ruutu (illness) and Jaromir Jagr (illness) set to rejoin the lineup Wednesday. The 30-year-old had two points (both assists) and 33 PIM in 15 games with the Devils.

The Devils will be without yet another forward (Michael Ryder) on account of the mumps, so Sestito will join the play in Saturday's contest as a member of the fourth line. Fortunately for the Devils, Patrik Elias (mumps) and Martin Havlat (flu) look to be nearing the finish line in their recovery from illness, which could make Sestito's stay with the parent club a relatively short one.

With the a three-day break for the NHL, it appears one of the forwards should be able to return for Saturday's game against the Rangers, thus making Sestito dispensable.

Sestito will join the Devils as insurance at center in the event that Jacob Josefson (groin) is unavailable for the team's back-to-back games over the weekend. If Josefson ends up missing one or both contests, Sestito would fill little more than a checking-line role for the Devils.

The Devils assigned Sestito to AHL Albany on Tuesday. Sestito was called up Monday and saw 11 minutes in the Devils' loss to the Islanders; but he was needed only for the lone game, and will head back to Albany for the time being.

The veteran forward has made NHL appearances in each of the past six seasons, but has only played 86 total games. He'll come up for air once again this week, but there's no reason to think of him as anything more than a temporary option for the Devils.

Tim Sestito (concussion) returned to action on Saturday. Sestito suffered the concussion on March 20 and while he passed all his concussion tests on March 28th, he only returned on Saturday. The feisty winger played in only his 12th game of the season. He has two assists and managed two hits and two blocked shots to go with three shots on goal in 10:50 minutes of play against the Hurricanes.

Tim Sestito has successfully passed his concussion tests. Sestito is now eligible to rejoin the Devils' lineup, but he still might sit out of Saturday's game. He only returned to practice on Friday.
