Gagner has been informed by the Flyers that the team intends to keep him on the roster, CSN's Tim Panaccio reports.

Gagner was acquired via trade over the weekend, and the initial expectation was that he would be bought out by the Flyers. However, the team said Tuesday that it intends to hang onto Gagner, and neither a buyout nor a trade is in the works.

Gagner, who was acquired Saturday afternoon in a deal that included Chris Pronger's contract going to Arizona, is expected to be the target of a buyout, says Frank Seravalli of TSN.

The Flyers are trying to clear cap space and a buyout would accomplish that. But interestingly enough, it would also impact the Bolts, a team that retained some of his contract when they dealt him to the Yotes. This is a unique situation for the league and the Bolts -- the team has zero say in the situation, leaving them with a hit on their own cap for two more years instead of one.

The Flyers acquired Sam Gagner in exchange for Niklas Grossman and Chris Pronger's contract on Saturday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

The Flyers have a severe lack of depth at center and a good amount of depth at defense, so this move seems to make sense for all parties involved. Gagner is talented enough to be a part of the Flyers' top-six forward group, but it's hard to see him leapfrogging Claude Giroux or Sean Couturier on Philadelphia's depth chart. He registered 15 goals and 26 assists for a total of 41 points in 81 games with the Coyotes in 2014-15, and will likely begin the 2015-16 campaign playing center on the Flyers' third line.

Gagner netted his 15th goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Ducks.

Gagner finished the season strong, recording three goals and six points in his last eight games. The 25-year-old hit the 40-point barrier for the sixth time in his career and began to find his role with Arizona. While he's a talented offensive producer, Gagner has firmly established himself as a 40-50 point guy. Nothing more, nothing less.

Gagner scored his 14th goal of the season and had an assist in Saturday's win over the Sharks.

A dominant outing for Gagner, who finished the game with seven shots on goal and a plus-2 rating. With the goal and assist, the 25-year-old has now hit the 40-point mark for the first time in three seasons. He's inconsistent, but the top-six forward plays on the top power-play unit and is a reliable point producer.

Gagner picked up an assist in regulation and scored the game-winning goal on an overtime power play Thursday against Buffalo.

That's points in consecutive games for Gagner, who's now matched last season's 37, but remains well shy of the career-high pace he set as a rookie (49 points in 79 games). His inconsistency and team context make him an uninspiring fantasy asset.

Gagner picked up an assist Tuesday in a 5-4 overtime win over the Red Wings. He took three shots and registered two hits in the contest.

Gagner is up to 35 points on the season, which almost equals his output from last year. He has been particularly good since mid-December with 25 points in 43 games. He is back to being a useful fantasy option in deep leagues despite the lack of big talent around him on the Coyotes.

Gagner had an assist Thursday in a 5-2 loss to the Avalanche. He was minus-2 and registered one shot on the night.

With 34 points in 70 games, Gagner is close to his production from last year in Edmonton. Considering that he had just 10 points in the first 30 games of the season, he has recovered well, nearly doubling his per game production since he was a healthy scratch on December 13. The 25-year-old has never reached the 49 points he scored as a rookie and he will be a depth player in fantasy as he gets closer to age 30 while the Coyotes rebuild.

Gagner set up one of the Coyotes two regulation time goals Thursday in a 3-2 shootout win over the Canucks. He had four PIM and three shots in the contest.

Gagner has four points in his last four games and seems to be responding to the challenge of providing leadership for the Coyotes after they traded a number of veterans. He is under contact for next year, but with the Coyotes rebuilding it's possible he could be elsewhere.

Gagner picked up his 19th assist of the season Tuesday in a 4-1 loss to Anaheim. He was minus-2 and took one shot in the contest.

Gagner is one of the Coyotes' key veterans now that the team is committed to rebuilding. He was turned his season around after a really slow start to reach 31 points in 63 games. He will threaten the 40-point mark this year and should be in the plans going forward when top prospects like Max Domi, and newly acquired Anthony Duclair, arrive and need mentoring.
