McDonagh scored a first-period power-play goal that held up as the game-winner and went plus-1 with four shots, three blocks and a pair of hits in Thursday's Game 1 victory over Pittsburgh.

The Rangers' captain fell back offensively a bit this year, but he finished the season with nine points in the final nine games, and he's carried that heat forward into the first game of the playoffs. If there was ever a time to get hot, this is it.

McDonagh tallied a power-play goal and put five shots on net in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Devils.

Though his production has waned for much of the season, McDonagh certainly seems to be heating up at the right time for fantasy owners. The goal Tuesday gives him seven points over his last six games, during which he's compiled a plus-5 rating. Those contending for the championship in their season-long leagues should continue to keep McDonagh active over the Rangers' final two games.

McDonagh picked up a power-play assist in the first period, then helped out on J.T. Miller's game-winner in the third.

The Rangers' captain is on a little late-season run here, with four assists in the last three games. He's not to going to avoid having this campaign labeled as a disappointment -- in terms of stats, at least -- but McDonagh has undeniable offensive ability, so it's hard to ignore him when he starts showing signs like this.

McDonagh registered an assist in Sunday's loss to the Capitals.

McDonagh's false start to the season due to the separated shoulder he suffered in November seems to have compromised his production, even since his return from the injury. His 26 points in 64 contests translates to a .40 per-game average, which amounts to a fairly noticeable drop from his .55 mark from a season ago. McDonagh won't turn 26 until June, and with a healthy offseason, should make for a strong bounce-back candidate in 2015-16.

McDonagh was a plus-1 with three shots on goal in Sunday's win over Florida.

More impressive was McDonagh season-high six blocked shots, part of a team effort that resulted in 36 blocked shots, the most the organization has put up since 2005-06 campaign. No, he hasn't had the consistent offensive spark (24 points in 57 games) that most owners were expecting, but taking on the pressure of the team captaincy was bound to have an impact. Whether that impact is long-term remains to be seen, but we highly doubt management would change a thing right now.

McDonagh potted two goals in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Islanders. It was the first two-goal game of McDonagh's career as he had an unusually offensively minded outing as he also rifled off a season-high six shots on goal. The captain is getting on the scoresheet with some consistency lately as he's now tallied seven points in his last nine to bring him to 22 points on the season.

McDonagh picked up an assist and an empty-net power-play goal Thursday against the Avalanche. The empty-netter was actually a nice one, as he picked off a pass in the neutral zone and fired it home from long distance. McDonagh's offensive resurgence continues, as he's tallied a more-than-respectable five points in the last seven games.

McDonagh scored an early third period goal in Saturday's loss to Nashville.

Finding twine for the first time in 15 games certainly bodes well for fantasy owners who have remained patient with the veteran blue liner. Despite a minus-3 rating over his last seven contests, the 25-year-old team captain is on something of a warming trend, now having posted a goal and three assists over that same span. McDonagh has 18 points in 39 games and should be considered a solid start moving forward.

McDonagh logged a power-play assist in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Panthers.

No one is happier to see the month of February as much as McDonagh, who seems to be bouncing back from his seven point-scoring drought quite nicely. With assists in consecutive games and three points in his last five contests we recommend starting the 25-year-old with confidence until he hits another rough patch. While he's unlikely to match last year's career-high of 43 points, McDonagh (plus-10) has managed a respectable 17 points in 34 games this season.

McDonagh recorded an assist in Tuesday's win over the Senators, marking his first point since Jan. 3.

The blueliner had gone seven games without a tally in either scoring column. It's the second time this season that McDonagh had a scoring drought of at least six games, which -- combined with a four-week absence due to a shoulder injury -- has dampened his fantasy appeal this season. He still sports a commendable plus-12 rating, but fantasy owners surely expected more than three goals and 15 points at this juncture.
