McDonagh's broken right foot will not require surgery, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

The news is encouraging, as it suggests that McDonagh will in fact be ready for the Rangers' training camp in September. McDonagh had a solid 2014-15 campaign, registering eight goals and 25 assists for a total of 33 points in 71 games.

McDonagh is currently donning a walking boot and using crutches due to the broken foot he suffered in the Eastern Conference Final against Tampa Bay, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.

He'll remain in a walking boot and on crutches for four weeks, at which point his broken foot will be re-evaluated. While a broken foot is certainly nothing to scoff at, if all goes well with the healing process, McDonagh should be ready for the Rangers' training camp in September.

Coach Alain Vigneault acknowledged after the Rangers' Game 7 loss to the Lightning that McDonagh played the final couple games of the series with a broken right foot.

It likely would have taken nothing less than a broken foot for the Rangers captain not to be on the ice in the Eastern Conference Finals, but he clearly wasn't himself in the last three games. After tallying a goal and assist in Game 4, McDonagh failed to get on the score sheet and mustered only one shot on goal in Games 5 through 7. Additionally, he skated fewer than 22 minutes in each of the last three contests, well below his postseason average of 23:51 TOI.

McDonagh registered a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 6-5 OT loss to the Lightning.

The Rangers captain found the score sheet for the fourth time in the last four games, but struggled overall on the night, and finished with a minus-2 rating. The Rangers will need McDonagh to play his best hockey if they want to avoid heading back to New York facing a 3-1 series deficit.

McDonagh (undisclosed) is on the ice for practice Tuesday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.

McDonagh took a hard hit from Alex Ovechkin in Game 6, but there was never much doubt that he'd be on the ice for Game 7, and the fact that he's practicing Tuesday all but ensures he'll be ready to go Wednesday night.

McDonagh, who took a hard hit from Alexander Ovechkin in Game 6, is expected to play in Wednesday's Game 7, Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post reports.

It would take a lot to keep McDonagh or any player form missing a playoff game - let alone Game 7 - so it shouldn't be surprising that he'll likely play. The team should provide an official update before the game, but all signs at this point seem to indicate that he'll be on the ice.

McDonagh was the hero Friday, scoring in overtime to propel the Rangers to a Game 5 win over the Capitals.

That's the second game-winning goal of the playoffs for McDonagh, who has managed five points in 10 postseason games. While the goal Friday was his first point of the second round, the 25-year-old captain has been logging heavy minutes and has fired nine shots on goal in his last four games. If The Rangers hope to win Game 6 and force a Game 7 in New York, McDonagh will need to play a key role.

McDonagh collected an assist, two hits, and five blocked shots in Wednesday's Game 4 victory over the Penguins.

The season has largely been a disappointing one for McDonagh, but he's beginning to turn things on right when the Rangers need him most. He's recorded points in three of the series' four games, and has two goals and nine assists over his last 12 games dated back to March 29.
