Bachman has retired from professional hockey and will join AHL Iowa's coaching staff, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Bachman almost assuredly would have been able to help the parent club in a pinch, but now he'll have to set his sights on the 2019-20 season.

The veteran netminder had a terrible giveaway in the first period when his pass from behind the net went right to Mikko Koivu, who promptly put it in the empty net. Bachman has maintained a 20-17-2 record, 2.89 GAA and .906 save percentage in a career that's been split between the Stars, Oilers and Canucks, respectively. If he had the chops to be a No. 1 netminder, it likely would've happened by now, as Bachman is 31 years old and doesn't exactly fill the net at 5-foot-10 and 183 pounds. Still, he's made it this far due to his athleticism between the pipes. The Salt Lake City, Utah native will field shots from a Wild club that is averaging 3.13 goals per game at home -- tied with the Golden Knights for 19th in the category.

Bachman was recalled by the Canucks on Sunday, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.

With Anders Nilsson (undisclosed) on injured reserve, Bachman is needed to back up Jacob Markstrom for the next few games. Bachman hasn't played an NHL game since the 2016-17 season, when he posted a .920 save percentage and 2.64 GAA over five games.
