Wiercioch scored his second goal of the year Tuesday, tallying on the power play in a 2-1 overtime win against Carolina.

Wiercioch has seen his ice time and productivity spike recently, as he's collected four points (two of them on the power play) and four PIM over the last five games. He's flashed offensive potential in college and at the AHL level, and although he still has a modest 11 points to show for this season, his upside down the stretch and moving forward to next year should be quite intriguing to fantasy owners.

Wiercioch collected an assist in Friday's win over the Islanders.

Wiercioch has notched assists in each of the last three games and appears to have locked himself in as a lineup mainstay after often serving as a healthy scratch under previous coach Paul MacLean. The 24-year-old has always shown flashes of offensive upside, and with his role now seemingly secure, he may be able to put up points with enough frequency to return value in deeper leagues.

Wiercioch picked up an assist and attempted three shots in Tuesday's win over the Sabres.Though he's shown flashes of offensive upside in the past, Wiercioch has been limited to just five points over 29 games this season. Much of that can probably be attributed to the fact that he simply hasn't received consistent run in the Sens' lineup; Tuesday's appearance was just his fourth since Jan. 15. Cody Ceci sat out Tuesday to accommodate Wiercioch's return to the lineup, but that doesn't figure to become a common arrangement under coach Dave Cameron.

Wiercioch will be out of the lineup Saturday against the Coyotes.

Chris Phillips will step in to replace Wiercioch on the Sens' third pairing. Wiercioch's scoring has taken a dive this season after he tallied a respectable 23 points in 53 games in 2013-14. He's only mustered a goal and four points over his 24 contests thus far.

Wiercioch (undisclosed) is considered doubtful to play Wednesday against the Devils, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Wiercioch skipped Tuesday's practice due to the injury, which he likely acquired at some point during Monday's shootout loss to the Sabres. Chris Phillips, who had been a healthy scratch the previous two games, is expected to draw back into Wednesday's lineup in place of the ailing Wiercioch.

Wiercioch (muscle strain) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, Ian Mendes of TSN 1200 reports.

Wiercioch had often served as a healthy scratch for the Senators prior to landing on injured reserve, so his circumstances probably won't change much, despite the fact he's no longer dealing with the injury. Milan Michalek (upper body) was shuttled to IR to create roster room for Wiercioch.

The injury that forced Wiercioch to injured reserve is a muscle strain, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

It's not apparent how Wiercioch sustained the injury, but because he was on the ice Thursday, it wouldn't seem particularly severe. His move to IR was likely done with the motive of activating Marc Methot in advance of Thursday's game versus the Islanders.

Wiercioch (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

Wiercioch was held out of Wednesday's practice for what was described as a maintenance day, but he was present at Thursday's morning skate as an extra skater. He's presumably nursing a minor injury that the Senators weren't willing to shed much light on, so it's possible the team just moved him to IR to facilitate the return of Marc Methot, who was activated Thursday. Wiercioch last played Monday, so he won't be eligible to return until Dec. 11 against the Kings.

Wiercioch tallied the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Red Wings.

It was the first goal of the season for the defenseman, who has enjoyed a fairly regular role in the Ottawa lineup while Marc Methot (back) remains on IR. Aside from the incomparable Erik Karlsson, Wiercioch possesses as much offensive upside as any of the Sens' blueliners, despite not seeing a ton of minutes. Over 111 NHL contests, the 24-year-old has 10 goals and 36 assists, good for a respectable 0.41 point-per-game average.
