Hornqvist (undisclosed) will return to the lineup Saturday against the Coyotes, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

There was some thought that Hornqvist might not be able to return Saturday after he saw only limited involvement in line rushes during Friday's skate, but it looks like the Pens' training staff gave him the go-ahead to play. Making his first appearance since March 15, the winger will slot in on the top line next to Sidney Crosby, bolstering a Penguins attack that has struggled mightily in Hornqvist's and Evgeni Malkin's (lower body) absence.

Hornqvist (undisclosed) practiced with the Penguins on Friday and is being listed as day-to-day, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Fellow injured top-six forward Evgeni Malkin (lower body) also participated in Friday's session, but seemed to be more involved in line rushes than Hornqvist. That would seem to suggest that Malkin will play Saturday versus the Coyotes and Hornqvist won't, but a ruling of the status on either player won't come until the Penguins check in on their progress overnight. Even if Hornqvist sits out Saturday, he'll still likely have a shot at suiting up for Sunday's tilt with the Sharks.

Hornqvist (undisclosed) won't return to the lineup Thursday against the Hurricanes, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Hornqvist was able to skate Wednesday morning, but isn't far enough along in the recovery process to give it a go Thursday. He'll remain in Pittsburgh while the team travels to Carolina and figures to continue working out on his own in preparation for a return to the lineup over the weekend.

Hornqvist (undisclosed) is skating and could return as soon as Tuesday at home against St. Louis, ROOT Sports in Pittsburgh reports.

Hornqvist stayed in Pittsburgh for the team's three-game road trip, which ended in Arizona on Saturday. The forward, who suffered a non-contact injury Sunday, appeared to injure his oblique. The Pens have scored only four goals in three games during Hornqvist's and Evgeni Malkin's absences.

Per the report, Hornqvist won't join the Penguins on their three-game road trip, which begins Tuesday against New Jersey, but on the plus side, the timetable put forth by coach Mike Johnston on Monday suggests that Hornqvist has avoided a long-term injury.

Hornqvist scored a goal on his only shot and assisted on another Thursday in a win over the Oilers.

The most unusual thing about Thursday's performance isn't the two points, but the fact that Hornqvist only took a single shot on goal -- the first time that's happened since Feb. 17. He's been red-hot of late, with 11 points over his last nine contests.

Hornqvist scored the overtime-winning goal Saturday against Los Angeles.

Hornqvist has now recorded seven goals in his last seven games, putting him at 22 tallies on the season. He's red-hot right now and has fired a whopping 18 shots on goal in his last four outings. Skating on the top line with Sidney Crosby, Hornqvist should be an automatic roll.
