ADD'EM: 6 OF ONE, HALF DOZEN OF THE OTHER Thomas Greiss-G-NYI (27.9... primepucks.com Sun 11/12/17 7:38 PM

ADD'EM: 6 OF ONE, HALF DOZEN OF THE OTHER Thomas Greiss-G-NYI (27.9% owned in ESPN), Nino Niederreiter-RW-MIN (56.3), Daniel Sedin-LW-VAN (48.1), Mikael Backlund-C-CGY (45.6), Mathew Barzal-C-NYI (41.3), Jason Zucker-LW-MIN (35.3), Tanner Pearson-LW-LAK (33.5), Justin Williams-RW-CAR (27.5), Rick Nash-RW-NYR (24.5), Frans Nielsen-C-DET (18.9) 11/12/2017 GOALIE: The only available net minder worthy of a fantasy slot this week is the Islanders’ Thomas Greiss.  Greiss played in three games the past week and netted 2 wins allowing 8 goals against but had 89 saves.  An away game against Tampa Bay sandwiched between a home-and-home series against the Carolina Hurricanes. FORWARD:  There are quite a few forward options out there with one returning for an encore performance.  Nino Niederreiter went 1-2-3 in 4 games last week and with 2 home games against Philly and Nashville concluding with an away game against Washington this week, look for NN to continue his groove now that his early season injury seems to be behind him.  We are heading back to the island, more specifically Brooklyn with Mathew Barzal of the Islanders.  Posting 0-6-6 in 4 games last week, Barzal seems to be getting more and more comfortable on a line with Jordan Eberle, and vice versa.  Look for the talented rookie to continue contributing and hopefully he starts to shoot the puck more being that he only had 4 SOG for the whole week. Back to Minnesota and a red-hot Jason Zucker.  While this JZ might not be from Brooklyn, he sure is causing a ruckus this past week with 6 goals and an assist in 4 games.  With 17 SOG you know he is feeling it and so should you.  Stick him in your lineup while the iron the hot. Mikael Backlund of Calgary usually saves his game for the second half but recently he has been putting up some assists more consistently with 4 in the past 3 games.  You won’t get much more than an assists here or there as he tends not to shoot the puck too often. Justin Williams return to Carolina has been somewhat quiet to start the season, but he has been putting up the points of late with a goal and 3 assists in the past 3 games.  With 4 games on the tilt this week, at home against Dallas and NY Islanders bookending matches against the same NY Islanders and Buffalo both away, the schedule looks promising for Carolina. One player I was expecting to breakout this season after a semi-breakout last year is LA King Tanner Pearson.  He has just 9 points in 16 games so far this season but has...

DAILY PRIME - SEPTEMBER 13, 2014: TIDBITS & A PRIME+PLUS SAMPLE primepucks.com Sat 9/13/14 4:27 PM

A few small events happening around the NHL......Minnesota signs RW Nino Niederreiter, one of my favorites names in the NHL today, to a 3-year deal. A good move on both parts to get this settled before camp opens.  I am always of the belief that missing camp places that player behind the rest of the pack and it often results in a sub-par year.  Nieds played in 81 games and should develop into a strong power forward.  With 36 points in his first full season in Minnesota, there is no way to go but up.  Good job guys! Columbus signs Long Island's own 2014 1st round NHL Entry Draft choice Sonny Milano to a 3-year entry level deal. Another name that seems appropriate for the NHL, or perhaps a comeback for that hit HBO series The Sopranos.  Milano is a few years away from making an impact in the NHL. Ryan Malone signs a 2-way contract with the New York Rangers after being bought out by the Tampa bay Lightning after he was recently arrested for DUI. Malone will try to get his career and hopefully his life back in order.  We wish him success as he partakes in the NHL Behavior program. It is sad to see one of the league's greatest gentlemen to ever play the game, Saku Koivu, announce his retirement. Koivu career expanded across 18 years as a member of the Montreal Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks.  We will miss your class, Mr. Koivu.  A few rule changes made.....the "Spin-O-Rama" has been banned from the shootout. Practically the only exciting thing about the shootout was the "Spin-O-Rama".  How could they take that away from the fans?  Boo, hiss!....The trapezoid behind the net will be extended by 2 feet.   They should extend it 2 feet on each side, but I guess a little at a time.  The extension is supposed to benefit the defensemen, making the event of an injury less likely. Bravo! ....the referees will supposedly crack down on diving, with the league imposing increasing financial penalties for every additional offense.  The coaches can be fined as well if it becomes a habit....Pucks pushed out of the offensive zone, break the glass, caroms off anybody or anything and goes out will result in the faceoff staying inside the offensive zone.  The NHL is hoping this will result in more goals being scored....Intentionally delaying face-offs on icing calls will be met with much stricter consequences.  A warning given for the first delay, and, if he delays the game any further after the warning, the player will receive a delay of game penalty.   The game should move a ...

Line Change: Niederreiter will play on the top-line with Mikko Koiv... dailyfaceoff.com Tue 5/6/14 2:56 PM

Niederreiter has had himself a strong postseason, and he will be rewarded tonight as he swaps places with Matt Moulson. Nino has two goals and two assists while averaging just 13:16 in the first nine games of the playoffs.

Injury: Niederreiter (upper-body) will be back in the lineup on Sat... dailyfaceoff.com Sat 4/5/14 2:56 PM

Niederreiter missed Thursday's game but will be back tonight vs. the Penguins. He has just on goal and one assist in his last 10 games.

Injury: Niederreiter (upper-body) will not play on Thursday. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 4/3/14 2:56 PM

Niederreiter left Sunday's game in the first period and did not return. He was able to practice, but the Wild will play it safe with him and rest him tonight with veteran Dany Heatley sitting in the press box the last few games. Niederreiter is day-to-day.

DAILY PRIME- JANUARY 10, 2014: IS IT WORTH OWNING ANY BLUE'S FORWARDS? primepucks.com Fri 1/10/14 5:41 AM

Being an avid participant in fantasy hockey for over 20 years, I should know better when it comes to picking up "hot" forwards on balanced, scoring teams like the one in St. Louis. Ken Hitchcock continues rolling out four lines, and the one clicking the best on that given night will get the most quality ice-time. The "hot" line could last a few games, even weeks, but once another set of forwards are starting to surge, they now become the centerpiece of the offense. It's been a trademark of Hitchcock's teams, so why should things change now? The "flavor" of the moment seems to be the Vladimir Sobotka line flanked by Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Berglund. Both Tarasenko and Sobotka collected a goal and an assist in the 5-0 win over Calgary, raising their respective multi-point streaks to three games. The dilemma for most fantasy owners remains the same: When is it a good time to pick up a streaking St. Louis forward? I picked up RW Chris Stewart in the midst of his December streak, where he scored 8 goals and 3 assists in 7 games. The hope was that he could replicate his awesome 25-game stretch late last season when he was among the elite scorers in the NHL. Well, he went cold in the hurry, so I went against my instincts and scooped up Jaden Schwartz for him. A budding star with promising potential, he was sizzling around Christmas time. Now he has gone scoreless in his last 2 contests, with his minutes dropped to 14:33 and given minimal power-play time. Of course, Tarasenko is looking real good just about now, as the talented Russian is oozing with offensive upside. There is a slight chance that by the time I finish this article, he will be on my team. But, there is a reason why all these talented St. Louis forwards are readily available on the waiver wire. Due to the way they are used in Hitchcock's system, there is no fantasy staying power and the chances that any of them can contribute for you on a consistent basis for an entire season are slim to none. It seemed that prior to his injury that Alex Steen was bucking that trend with an exceptional first half, but we will never know if he could have kept it up. Anyway, that's my "two cents" on the St. Louis situation. Fantasy Game Notes: Anton Khudobin wins his fourth straight start for Carolina since returning from injury, stopping 25 of 26 shots in the 5-1 win over Toronto. With Cam Ward on the shelf, the 27-year old Russian is "hot stuff" right now and should be owned in all fantasy leagues. Given ...

Line Change: Niederreiter has been moved back to the top-line with ... dailyfaceoff.com Mon 10/21/13 2:56 PM

Niederreiter has moved around this lineup throughout the early part of the season, but found himself re-united with Parise and Koivu in practice this morning. He has one goal and three assists in nine games with his new team.

Line Change: Niederreiter playing with Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 10/10/13 2:56 PM

The fifth overall pick in 2010 never got a chance when he was with the Islanders, but is finally getting his shot with the WIld. He has two assists in three games, but definitely receives a boost in value playing on the Minnesota top line.

Line Change: Niederreiter, the fifth overall pick in the 2010 draft... dailyfaceoff.com Tue 9/24/13 2:56 PM

Niederreiter, known more for his scoring, had five hits, often came away from board battles with the puck and is getting stronger without the puck every game, coach Mike Yeo said.

DAILY PRIME- SEPTEMBER 18, 2013: PRE-SEASON FANTASY BITS; NHL IN 30... primepucks.com Wed 9/18/13 9:11 AM

The New York Rangers had a good night in beating the Flyers 3-2 because of Center Derick Brassard who had two goals and looked good last night. Brassard came over to New York in the Marian Gaborik trade last year and has seemed very much in place in New York. He could score 60 points this year depending on the ice time he gets.  Don't forget about him late in your draft....Young forward Sean Courtier had a goal for Philadelphia, and he is probably off most poolies radar, but we have high expectations for him, and think he can score 65+ points this season....Steve Mason had 20 saves in goal, so watch this situation as he is competing with Ray Emery for the starter's job in Philadelphia. It should be a tough fight....Marcus Foligno had 2 goals last night for Buffalo against a Columbus split squad. At 22, Foligno has not yet established himself in the NHL but he has offensive talent, so he could be a real sleeper.  He once scored 13 points in 14 games in 2011-2012....Young Mikhail Grigorenko had a goal for Buffalo. Keep an eye on this kid because he has tremendous upside potential....The other Columbus squad beat Minnesota 3-1. Niklas Backstrom had only 7 saves in goal for the Wild while allowing all 3 goals. His performance will be critical to Minnesota this year....Forward Nino Niederreiter scored the only goal for the Wild on the power play, and he did not look bad. He was a tremendous bust for the Islanders but now has a new life in Minnesota.  He is only 20 years old....Corey Crawford was in midseason form in goal for Chicago as he stopped all 19 shots he faced, as the Blackhawks shut out Detroit....Patrick Sharp had a goal for Chicago and he should get 30+ goals this season. The guy is very dependable....Defenseman Dennis Wideman had two goals last night for Calgary in a split squad game against the Islanders, but please don't expect that to happen a lot as this team is most likely going to struggle this year. He is at best a late round draft pick....Forward Curtis Glencross had a goal and two assists. We view him as a marginal pick....Michael Grabner had a goal for New York and he has a lot of ability.  If he could only play with more consistency.... Kevin Poulin had 14 saves out of 16 shots for the Islanders and is fighting Nabokov for the starter's job in New York. We expect Nabokov to win this battle....In a split squad game Calgary beat the Islanders 4-2.  John Tavares and Matt Moulson both scored for New York. Expect them both to have big years...
