Grabner will play Tuesday night in Philadelphia, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.

The Islanders are short a couple of forwards with Matt Martin and Frans Nielsen out with minor injuries. The Isles have several extra forwards on their roster so it has become a battle of playing time game in and game out. Grabner has often been a healthy scratch over the past couple of seasons. He needs to display his speed on a consistent basis in order to stay in the lineup.

Coach Jack Capuano said Thursday that Grabner (illness) is fully healthy now, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

After serving as a healthy scratch for a few games, Grabner was expected to return to the lineup last weekend before the illness prevented that from coming to fruition. Grabner could reenter the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jackets, but would likely only see third-line minutes.

Grabner is nursing an illness and will not be available Saturday against the Ducks, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Grabner was a candidate to get back in the lineup Saturday after a slew of healthy scratches, but it appears the illness cropped up at an inconvenient time. It's possible that he'll be able to play Sunday against the Red Wings if he notices enough improvement with his condition by the morning.

Grabner is expected to serve as a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Rangers, NHL.com's David Satriano reports.

The return of Kyle Okposo (detached retina) from a 22-game absence will force the Isles to bump a winger from their lineup, and it looks like it will be Grabner, who skated with the Isles' other expected scratches Tuesday morning. Grabner has been a capable, if unspectacular producer as a member of the team's second or third line this season, generating seven goals and 12 points over 29 games.

Grabner registered a pair of assists, went plus-2 and recorded a stunning six takeaways Thursday against the Predators. The Preds played a sloppy game, and Grabner and the Islanders took advantage repeatedly. That's points in two consecutive games and a plus-4 rating for the winger since his return from an upper-body ailment that kept him out for a week-plus. But he's had an awful tough time staying in the lineup this year.

Grabner (upper body) isn't ready to come off the IR for the Islanders, according to Newsday.Grabner may have a problem getting back into the lineup even when he's healthy as coach Jack Capuano may be hesitant to sit someone while the team is on a winning streak. Capuano has used this logic in the past while sitting Lubomir Visnovsky and Calvin de Haan.

Grabner (undisclosed) skated with the team Tuesday, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.Although Grabner was placed on IR, that might've been more because the Isles need some healthy bodies more than because of a serious injury. Grabner could be back as soon as he is eligible.

Grabner was placed on injured reserve by the Islanders on Sunday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Grabner's injury likely occurred in Saturday's game against the Bruins in which he was limited to 9:55 of ice time. He will first be eligible to return next Saturday against the Blue Jackets, but the team recalled both Harry Zolnierczyk and Colin McDonald on an emergency basis Sunday.

Grabner netted his fifth goal of the season in Thursday's loss to the Bruins.

Grabner nearly came through with his first multi-goal game of the season, but an incredible stick save by Tuukka Rask robbed him of that distinction. Even so, the Austrian winger has been a strong complementary piece to the Isles' attack over his last five games, notching three goals and an assist.
