Niskanen set up Curtis Glencross' third-period goal in Friday's 3-2 defeat to the Rangers.

Niskanen hasn't quite thrived offensively with the Caps to the extent he did in 2013-14 with the Penguins, but as Friday's performance showed, he still has some respectable two-way abilities. The helper gave him his fourth point (all assists) in 12 postseason contests.

Niskanen recorded an assist during Washington's 5-1 rout of the Islanders in Thursday's Game 5.

The helper gives the Minnesota native three assists in the first five games of the series. Though inconsistent this season, Niskanen has looked more comfortable offensively with the Capitals since March, and is tied with defense partner Karl Alzner in playoff scoring among Capitals defensemen, ahead of offensive stalwarts John Carlson and Mike Green. His production is an encouraging sign, and he should be on your radar for next season's draft.

Niskanen picked up a pair of helpers in Friday's Game 2 win over the Islanders.

A great bounce-back effort for Niskanen, who was an awful minus-4 in the Game 1 loss. The 28-year-old logged 21:47 of ice time Friday, and after notching 31 points in the regular season, expect him to continue to contribute steady offensive production from the back-end. He doesn't play on the top power-play unit, but he possesses strong offensive awareness that allows him to set up and be in on plays with superstars Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom.
