Cooke (sports hernia) said he hopes to start practicing this week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Cooke has been out since Feb. 1 with the injury. He hopes to return before the end of the regular season so he can be a factor in the playoffs.

Coach Mike Yeo said Tuesday that Cooke (sports hernia) isn't close to practicing with the team.

Cooke was able to resume skating a week ago and seems to be making progress, but it appears that the winger's absence will extend beyond the initial five-to-six-week recovery timetable the Wild initially etched out for him in early February. In comparing Cooke's progress to the Wild's other two forwards with long-term injuries, Ryan Carter and Jason Zucker, Yeo said that Carter was the closest to returning, and was still probably more than two weeks away. With Cooke in line to be activated from IR shortly after Carter, it looks like Cooke might not be back until the first week of April at the earliest.

Cooke (sports hernia) has been able to skate for the last week, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Despite his involvement on the ice, Cooke isn't expected to resume practicing in the near future. It looks like a mid-March return is a best-case scenario for the winger, but it seems more likely that his timetable will extend beyond that.

Cooke will undergo sports hernia surgery, and he is expected to be out for five-to-six weeks, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports.

Cooke was moved to injured reserve Wednesday amid rumors that his injury could be season-ending. While that's not entirely out of the picture, his recovery timetable hints at a return in mid-to-late March.

Cooke (lower body) was moved to injured reserve Wednesday.

We might have seen the last of the 36-year-old this season, as he's believed to be dealing with a sports hernia injury that will require surgery. The Wild should provide an official update on his situation in the coming days, but those relying on the rugged Cooke for hits and PIM should prepare to replace his production.

Cooke (lower body) could require season-ending surgery for his injury, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

After Cooke was ruled out from playing Tuesday against the Blackhawks, coach Mike Yeo hinted that the forward could be out for "a longer period of time." The Wild should gain further clarification on Cooke's condition following a doctor visit later Tuesday. Russo's report suggested the veteran could be nursing a sports hernia, which would in all likelihood spell an end to his season after 27 games. Jordan Schroeder was recalled from AHL Iowa on Tuesday to cover for Cooke's absence.

Cooke is out for Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks due to a lower body injury.

Cooke has only been ruled out for Tuesday, but Wild coach Mike Yeo said the absence could last longer. Cooke has not registered a point since Jan. 15.

Cooke tallied the team's lone goal in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks.

Cooke got off to a fast start this season with six points in eight October contests, but a hip injury sidelined him after that for almost two months. The 36-year-old has come back from that absence cold, failing to making the scoresheet in ten straight until Sunday as the goal marks his first point since Oct. 28. He should be able to pick up the pace a bit, but at this point Cooke shouldn't be considered except in deeper formats.

Cooke (hip) was activated from injured reserve Saturday and will suit up against the Predators, Rachel Blount of the Minneapolis Stat Tribune reports.

He'll replace Justin Fontaine in the lineup, joining Charlie Coyle and Nino Niederreiter on the Wild's third line. Cooke last played on Oct. 28 before missing the last 22 games with a hip flexor.

Cooke (hip) practiced again Friday and appears optimistic about his chances of returning to the lineup Saturday against the Predators, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Cooke will test out his hip injury for what he hopes will be a final time Saturday morning, and if all goes well, he'll likely be activated from IR. The bottom-six agitator has missed the past 22 games with the injury, putting a blemish on what had been a productive season to that point. He had an impressive six points through his first eight games, though that level of offense is probably not sustainable given that his career-best for points in a season is just 42.
