Fistric appeared in just nine games for Anaheim this season and will have his contract bought out by the Ducks as soon as he clears waivers. He still had two years remaining on his three-year deal.

Fistric was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Sunday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

Fistric spent most of the 2014-15 campaign with Norfolk, accruing a goal and seven points over 34 games. Though he did log nine appearances with the parent club earlier this season, the Ducks are back to full health on the blue line heading into the second round of the playoffs, which will make it difficult for Fistric to earn ice time.

Fistric cleared waivers and was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Wednesday, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.

Fistric had been a healthy scratch for every Ducks game since Dec. 22 and was no longer needed on the 23-man roster. He'll have an opportunity to play regularly in the minors, but the Ducks will likely only bring him back in the event of an injury to one of their blueliners.

Fistric was placed on waivers Tuesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

With seven other healthy defenseman already on the roster, Fistric, who hadn't played since Dec. 22, was deemed expendable. He failed to produce a single point in nine games this season and could be sent to AHL Norfolk if he clears waivers.

Fistric was activated in advance of Wednesday's game against the Flyers, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Ducks welcomed back both Fistric and Clayton Stoner (mumps) back from IR, amounting to a rare dose of good news for a blueline that's been beaten up badly this season. Fistric profiles as a stay-at-home defender, which will make it difficult for him to offer much impact in fantasy leagues.

Fistric (back) could be activated from IR to play Wednesday against the Flyers, Janis Carr of the Orange County Register reports.

Coach Bruce Boudreau would only call it an "outside possibility" that Fistric would play, but his return would be a welcome development after the Ducks lost yet another blueliner to injury in Eric Brewer, who suffered a foot ailment late in Monday's game. Fistric has been limited to just three games this season.

The bluliner has been on IR for more than three weeks now, but appears to finally be nearing a return. The blueliner failed to record a point in three games before suffering the injury.

Coach Bruce Boudreau said Fistric wasn't close to returning after leaving Thursday's contest with an upper body injury, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

Fistric's status for Friday's game is questionable at this point, which could open the door for Josh Manson to make his NHL debut. The team may reveal more information on the situation in the future, but for right now, Fistric should be considered day-to-day.

Fistric participated on a regular pairing at morning skate and looks set to enter the lineup Wednesday against the Sabres, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

A healthy scratch for the Ducks' first six games, Fistric will ready himself for his season debut, which comes just days after coach Bruce Boudreau hinted that he wanted to get the blueliner into the lineup. He's projected to see limited minutes on the Ducks' third pairing with Clayton Stoner, before reprising his role as the club's seventh defenseman thereafter.
