Visnovsky has been ruled out indefinitely with a suspected concussion, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.

Visnovsky was already ruled out for Thursday's Game 5 against the Capitals after failing to return to the ice for morning skate, and now it appears safe to rule him out for the remainder of the series, if not beyond. The blueliner missed 58 games last season with a concussion, and appeared to suffer another head injury that sidelined him briefly in Game 3 before the hit he took from Tom Wilson in Game 4 knocked him out for good. The 38-year-old will be a free agent after the season, and if he fails to return before the Isles' playoff run ends, it's possible his career could be over.

Visnovsky (undisclosed) will not play in Thursday's Game 5 against the Capitals, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

The Islanders haven't formally announced the nature or extent of Visnovsky's injury, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he missed the remainder of the series after he took a jarring hit from the Capitals' Tom Wilson in Game 4 that bloodied the blueliner's face and quite possibly resulted in a concussion. Both Griffin Reinhart and Ryan Pulock will take part in pregame warmups Thursday, with coach Jack Capuano deciding thereafter which defenseman will replace Visnovsky on the third pairing.

Coach Jack Capuano declined to provide an update on Visnovsky (undisclosed) following Wednesday's practice, ESPN New York's Katie Strang reports.

Visnovsky left Tuesday's Game 4 in the second period after getting absolutely demolished on a hit by the Capitals' Tom Wilson. The Islanders haven't revealed the nature of his injury and likely won't have more information on the blueliner until he's formally evaluated later Wednesday. For the moment, it doesn't appear promising that he'll be able to play in Thursday's Game 5, which could open the door for top defense prospects Griffin Reinhart or Ryan Pulock to enter the lineup.

Visnovsky exited Tuesday's Game 4 against the Capitals with an undisclosed injury, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Visnovsky took a huge hit from the Caps' Tom Wilson, bloodying the defenseman's face and sending him to the locker room. The nature of Visnovsky's injury should be made available at the conclusion of the game, but his absence will force the team to get by with five defensemen for the time being.

Visnovsky picked up an assist and put three shots on net in Sunday's Game 3 win over the Capitals.

The 38-year-old was limited to just 53 games during the regular season, but he's come on strong of late for the Islanders now that he seems to be back to full health. He's notched a goal and seven assists over his last 11 games, dating back to March 13.

Visnovsky scored his fifth goal of the season in the Islanders 3-2 loss to Anaheim on Saturday.

The goal had to feel good for Visnovsky who had missed the past five games with a lower body injury. He has not had the season that neither he nor the Isles wanted and has also been a healthy scratch at times but with the team currently in an offensive slump he should remain back in the lineup as long as he stays healthy.

Visnovsky (lower body) will return to the lineup Saturday against the Ducks, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Visnovsky will draw into the lineup for Calvin de Haan after skating the last two days without any complications. The 38-year-old missed the Isles' previous five games with the injury.

Visnovsky (lower body) may return for Saturday's game against the Ducks, Brett Cyrgalis of the New York Post reports.

Visnovsky skated both Thursday and Friday, but he remains uncertain for the upcoming weekend. His return has already been delayed a couple of times.

Visnovsky (lower body) was able to get in a skate Thursday, but it's not clear when he might get back into the lineup.

Coach Jack Capuano indicated after Visnovsky's skate that there was "no rush" to get the blueliner any action, so it seems as though he'll be brought along slowly while he recovers from the injury. The former top-tier defenseman looks to be a shell of himself at this point, as health issues have limited him to a combined 105 games over the last three seasons. With the Islanders boosting more depth than ever on the blue line with this year's additions of Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy, the 38-year-old Visnovsky simply isn't needed to take on a large role.

Visnovsky (lower body) didn't practice Wednesday, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.

Visnovsky practiced with the team Monday and has been skating with the team for a couple of days prior so it would seem he suffered some sort of setback to not take to the ice Wednesday. There is no word from the Isles however if this was the case or if the team just thought it was best to give him a day off.
