Islanders GM Garth Snow said he "doesn't anticipate" Visnovsky will be on the team next season, ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reports.

Visnovsky will be 39 years old and has suffered from a litany of injuries the last few seasons, leaving the Islanders inclined to give one of their younger blueliners a shake on the bottom pairing. Though he's not believed to be asking for more than a one-year deal, Visnovsky's price point was likely still far higher than the Islanders were willing to pay. Given his age and health concerns, don't expect Visnovsky to generate an overwhelming amount of interest from other teams.

Visnovsky's agent, Neil Sheehy, stated Tuesday that Visnovsky will play in the NHL this season, according to Islanders Point Blank.

Visnovsky had five goals and 20 points in 53 games last season. While the Isles could certainly use his presence at point on the power play, his injury history would seem to necessitate that only on a team friendly deal should the team welcome him back. The Islanders would seem to be better off to giving the roster spot to Ryan Pulock, Griffin Reinhart, or Matt Donovan rather than on an aging veteran that has little to offer at this point in his career and has a pretty extensive concussion history.

Visnovsky's agent has refuted a report that his client will sign to play in Europe next season, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.

Perhaps Visnovsky has had a change of heart about leaving the best league in the world or perhaps this is just a negotiating ploy. Either way it would still seem unlikely that the Isles would be interested in his services as they have quite a few young players in their pipeline that deserve the playing time and don't have anywhere near the injury history of Visnovsky.

Visnovsky is close to signing a deal to play in Austria, according to Islanders Point Blank.

Visnovsky is a free agent who has suffered several concussions over the past couple of seasons and was probably not going to be re-signed by the Islanders. The Isles will miss his offensive skills, especially his ability to quarterback the power play, but in the end this may be addition by subtraction.

Visnovsky (concussion) is unsure about playing next season, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.

Visnovsky had an up and down season with the Islanders. He was injured several times and was also a healthy scratch a few times. The Isles may choose to go in a different direction even if Visnovsky decides he wants to continue his career next season.

Visnovsky has been ruled out indefinitely with a suspected concussion, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.

Visnovsky was already ruled out for Thursday's Game 5 against the Capitals after failing to return to the ice for morning skate, and now it appears safe to rule him out for the remainder of the series, if not beyond. The blueliner missed 58 games last season with a concussion, and appeared to suffer another head injury that sidelined him briefly in Game 3 before the hit he took from Tom Wilson in Game 4 knocked him out for good. The 38-year-old will be a free agent after the season, and if he fails to return before the Isles' playoff run ends, it's possible his career could be over.

Visnovsky (undisclosed) will not play in Thursday's Game 5 against the Capitals, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

The Islanders haven't formally announced the nature or extent of Visnovsky's injury, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he missed the remainder of the series after he took a jarring hit from the Capitals' Tom Wilson in Game 4 that bloodied the blueliner's face and quite possibly resulted in a concussion. Both Griffin Reinhart and Ryan Pulock will take part in pregame warmups Thursday, with coach Jack Capuano deciding thereafter which defenseman will replace Visnovsky on the third pairing.

Coach Jack Capuano declined to provide an update on Visnovsky (undisclosed) following Wednesday's practice, ESPN New York's Katie Strang reports.

Visnovsky left Tuesday's Game 4 in the second period after getting absolutely demolished on a hit by the Capitals' Tom Wilson. The Islanders haven't revealed the nature of his injury and likely won't have more information on the blueliner until he's formally evaluated later Wednesday. For the moment, it doesn't appear promising that he'll be able to play in Thursday's Game 5, which could open the door for top defense prospects Griffin Reinhart or Ryan Pulock to enter the lineup.

Visnovsky exited Tuesday's Game 4 against the Capitals with an undisclosed injury, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Visnovsky took a huge hit from the Caps' Tom Wilson, bloodying the defenseman's face and sending him to the locker room. The nature of Visnovsky's injury should be made available at the conclusion of the game, but his absence will force the team to get by with five defensemen for the time being.

Visnovsky picked up an assist and put three shots on net in Sunday's Game 3 win over the Capitals.

The 38-year-old was limited to just 53 games during the regular season, but he's come on strong of late for the Islanders now that he seems to be back to full health. He's notched a goal and seven assists over his last 11 games, dating back to March 13.
