Clifford, who was initially credited with a goal and assist in Tuesday's win over the Avalanche, had his stat line adjusted to two goals and no assists after an official review, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

The scorer determined that the Kings' third goal of the first period, which had been awarded to Brayden McNabb, never deflected off of the defenseman's stick. As a result, the tally ended up going to Clifford, who was the last player to touch the puck. It goes down as the first game-winning goal for Clifford, who also tied his career high with two goals by finding twine in the second period.

Clifford agreed to a five-year, $8 million extension with the Kings on Wednesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.

A day after locking up Jordan Nolan to a three-year extension, Kings GM Dean Lombardi will bring another bottom-six forward into the fold on a multi-year pact. Clifford, 24, has tallied three goals and 10 points in 57 games, but is one of the Kings' more prolific contributors in the hits (148) and PIM (66) categories. He'll stick around in a complementary role for the club until the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.

Clifford notched his second goal of the season and collected four PIM in Saturday's loss to the Jets.

The bottom-six forward hadn't tallied a point in nine games, but nearly gave the Kings a game-winner before the Jets' Zach Bogosian notches the equalizer two minutes later in the third period. The winger only has eight points in 40 games and carries most of his value in the form of his lofty hit counts.

He's expected to skate at left wing on the Kings' fourth line, joining Dwight King and Mike Richards.

Clifford (flu) appears unlikely to play Tuesday against the Sabres, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Clifford looks to be just about recovered from the illness, but was skating as an extra at the Kings' morning skate, a sign he's not quite ready to go. Marian Gaborik (upper body) will return from a multi-game absence to take Clifford's spot in the lineup.

Kings' head coach Darryl Sutter says that Clifford has the flu, Lisa Dillman of the LA Times reports.

The Kings don't play until Tuesday so Clifford's status for that game is still uncertain at this point. The 23-year-old winger has one goal and five assists through 27 games played this season.

Clifford assisted on two scores in Saturday's loss to the Stars.

The 23-year-old still has only five points in 21 games this season, making it tough to get excited about Saturday's showing. He's worth a look in specialty formats only for those fishing for hits and PIM help.

Clifford scored his first goal of the year Tuesday, wrapping up the scoring with a tip-in of a Trevor Lewis shot in a 3-1 win over Dallas.

Clifford's calling card is his toughness, not his scoring ability, but he actually has some underrated skills around the net. Still, he sees few opportunities in his fourth-line role.
