Russell recorded an assist Tuesday, helping the Flames vanquish the Ducks 4-3 in overtime of Game 3.

Russell had not found the scoresheet in this series after tallying four points in six games against Vancouver. Calgary appears to have new life, and Russell should continue to score about a point every other game.

Russell picked up a power-play assist, six blocks, and seven PIM in Sunday's Game 3 win over the Canucks.

Russell's emergence down the stretch was one of the reasons the Flames were able to claim a playoff spot even after Mark Giordano (biceps) was lost for the season in early March, and he hasn't slowed down in the postseason. Through three games, Russell has two goals, an assist, and 13 blocked shots.

Russell made his lone shot-on-goal count Wednesday in Game 1 against Vancouver, firing the game-winner past Eddie Lack with 30 seconds left in regulation.

Russell has seriously stepped up his game since stud blueliner Mark Giordano (torn biceps) went down on Feb. 25. Russell is typically known as a shot-blocking machine but has shown some offensive flair of late, so the Flames will likely continue to lean on him for big minutes and occasional scoring production from the back end as the series with Vancouver progresses.

Russell (rest) is expected to sit out Saturday's season finale against the Jets, Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet reports.

The Flames plan to send several key regulars to the press box Saturday after clinching a playoff berth with Thursday's win over the Kings. Russell will finish a productive season with marks of four goals, 34 points, a league-leading 283 blocks, and a plus-18 rating over 79 games.

With a power-play assist in Tuesday's win over the Coyotes, Russell has a point in four of his last five games.

Russell has quietly been delivering top-notch fantasy production from the blue line since early March, as he's now posted three goals and 11 assists over his last 18 games. His increased productivity has helped keep the Flames afloat in the wake of Mark Giordano's season-ending biceps injury.

Russell ended a three-game pointless skid by rolling up a pair of assists, a plus-1 rating and two PIM in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.

With that, Russell's set a new career high in points -- 30. It's not much, but his recent productivity (10 points in his last eight games) in combination with his plus-13 rating has made him a legitimate fantasy asset in deeper formats, and increasingly in shallower ones as well.

Russell dished out three helpers in a 6-3 win over the Ducks on Wednesday. He also skated to a plus-2.

Run -- don't walk -- to grab this guy if you can, as he's now piled up eight points in the last four games while skating on the Flames' top defensive pair with Dennis Wideman. He's also getting premium minutes on Calgary's top power-play unit, and is stepping up quite capably in lieu of fantasy stud Mark Giordano, who's out for the season with a torn biceps tendon.

Russell scored twice -- once on the power play -- in 28:56 of ice time in Sunday's loss to Ottawa.

Russell is now riding a three-game point streak, compiling two goals and five points in that span. He's up to 25 points and a plus-10 rating in 64 games on the season. While he's been inconsistent, he averages 23:34 of ice time and should post 30-plus points.

Russell picked up two power-play assists and blocked a whopping 15 shots Thursday against the Bruins.

The points ended a nine-game scoreless skid for the 27-year-old blueliner. Russell's developed into a truly prolific shot blocker over the last couple years, and he'd already hit a new career high (203) on Tuesday even before this game. In fact, he's got 23 blocks in the last two. That's just ridiculous.

Russell picked up an assist while seeing 28:21 of ice time in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Islanders.

Russell helped spoil goalie Jaroslav Halak's shutout bid with 21 seconds remaining in the third period, as he found Josh Jooris for the Flames' only tally of the evening. More notable than the helper was Russell's TOI, which was his second-highest mark of the season. It's no coincidence that it came on a night when Mark Giordano (upper body) was unavailable, with Russell absorbing most of the minutes that became available. Should Giordano's injury result in a long-term absence, Russell's fantasy value would likely notice a modest spike.
