Winchester (concussion) has been placed on injured reserve, Marc Moser of AltitudeTV reports.
EDGE Analysis
Winchester continues to deal with concussion symptoms following a head injury that he sustained in a preseason game last year against Calgary that ultimately wiped out his entire 2014-15 regular-season campaign. He is out indefinitely.

Winchester has been ruled out indefinitely after concussion symptoms resurface, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After missing out on the entire 2014-15 season with a concussion, Winchester had declared himself 100 percent and was finally ready to get back to hockey and compete for a roster spot in training camp, most likely on the Avs' fourth line. Unfortunately, his concussion symptoms have reemerged since the start of preseason play and has been ruled out indefinitely. After needing nearly a year to comeback from the initial injury, it's unclear when he will return to the ice for the Avs, if at all.

Winchester (concussion) hasn't officially been cleared to participate in training camp practices, but appears to be fully healthy, Drew Spevak of ESPN Denver reports.
EDGE Analysis
After signing a two-year deal with the Avalanche last summer, Winchester didn't play a single game in his first season in Colorado after suffering a concussion in the preseason and experiencing multiple setbacks in his recovery. It sounds like he was able to demonstrate some progress after the season ended, so he'll be back in the fold to audition for a role on the Avs' energy line. The 31-year-old scored nine goals and 18 points and earned 32 PIM in his last full NHL season in 2013-14 with the Panthers.

Coach Patrick Roy confirmed Winchester (concussion) won't return this season. Winchester appeared to be making progress with his post-concussion symptoms as recently as a couple of weeks ago when he was cleared to travel with the team, but it appears he might have suffered yet another setback in his recovery. With the Winchester's long-term health the most important matter, he won't be rushed into action over the Avs' final three games. He didn't play a single game this season after first sustaining the concussion during training camp.

Winchester (concussion) was cleared to travel with the Avalanche during their road trip, Terry Frei of the Denver Post reports. Winchester appears to have put his long battle with post-concussion symptoms behind him, but it's not apparent when or if he'll enter the lineup again this season. He has yet to play all season after enduring the concussion during training camp, and with repeated setbacks interrupting his progress along the way, the Avalanche may be inclined to have him pack it for the year and prepare for camp next fall.

Coach Patrick Roy suggested Tuesday that the Avalanche could shut Winchester (concussion) down for the remainder of the season, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. "He's not doing well," Roy said of the injured winger. Winchester inked a two-year deal with the Avalanche as a free agent in July, but it looks like his first season in Denver could come without him having logged a single regular-season game. He sustained the concussion in the preseason and continues to experiencing lingering vision issues. Winchester had previously resumed skating and traveling with the team, but he's since halted those activities in recent weeks.

Winchester (concussion) resumed practicing with his Avalanche teammates during their ongoing three-game road trip, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Winchester won't be an option for the remaining two games of the trip, but it's good to see him join his mates for workouts after previously being limited to working out on his own. The winger continues to recover from a preseason concussion that has resulted in blurred vision, which may or may not still remain an issue. It will be tough to discern a clearer return date for Winchester until he starts practicing with contact and participate in line rushes.

Winchester (concussion) continues to experience vision problems, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. The concussion symptoms have been bothering Winchester since early October, after he suffered the head injury during the preseason. Until he enjoys an extended stretch without any setbacks in his recovery, Winchester will likely be limited to working out on his own.

Winchester (concussion) is doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Sharks, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Winchester participated in contact drills during Monday's practice, but apparently the team isn't quite comfortable with his game yet, so he's expected to make his return Thursday against the Islanders.
