It was believed that Bouwmeester would return to action Tuesday against the Jets after the worst of his flu symptoms seemed to have subsided, but coach Ken Hitchcock decided to keep the blueliner out for a second straight game. If Bouwmeester has another positive skate Thursday morning, he should receive clearance to play later that evening against the Flyers.

It appears that the Blues decided it was best to let Bouwmeester rest up another game, allowing Chris Butler to remain in the lineup in his stead. It's been a miserable season for Bouwmeester, who has followed up a 37-point, plus-26 2013-14 campaign with marks of 10 points and plus-7 over 56 games.

The goal was the aging blueliner's second of the season, with the other coming all the way back on Nov. 3. After tallying 37 points in 2013-14, Bouwmeester's puck-moving abilities have really diminished this season. He's mustered all of six points in 33 games this season, with his even-strength and power-play ice time dropping off by about a full minute from last year in accordance.
