Devane finalized the terms of a professional tryout agreement with the Flames on Tuesday, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.

Devane spent all of the 2015-16 with AHL Milwaukee where he tallied six goals and five points in 62 contests along with 82 PIM. With the World Cup of Hockey set to kick off in September, teams will likely need to back fill their rosters with extra PTO agreements. Given his limited production in the minors, the 25-year-old is a long shot to land a spot on the Flames' roster.

Devane was traded to the Predators on Sunday in exchange for Taylor Beck. Devane has spent most of his last three years working in the AHL and amassing team-leading penalty minutes. He's not operating at an NHL level yet, so the Predators will try to continue his development into a physical defenseman that can serve as solid depth.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have assigned forwards Spencer Abbott and Jamie Devane to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Both players were called up prior to the Leafs 5-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Devane played 6:52 in the home opening victory and had one shot on goal while Abbott received 5:16 of ice time and was a minus-2 rating. Both players were making their NHL debuts.
