The Colorado Avalanche didn't buy into the theory that P. A. Parenteau impressive numbers in 2011-12 were due primarily to playing with John Tavares.
Parenteau inked a four-year/$16 million deal with Colorado. "This was not, in our mind, a scenario where it was a 'one-off.' He put up points the year before as well, and there's no doubt he brings skill to the team in a position that we felt we needed to target," Avalanche GM Greg Sherman said. Parenteau is likely to play alongside Matt Duchene and we don't expect a major drop off in production from Parenteau. If nothing else, he should surpass the 50-point mark for the third straight season.
